In the ever-evolving landscape of American politics, few figures have demonstrated a capacity to adapt quite like former President Donald Trump. Since 2023, political correspondent Michael Gold has been on the ground, closely observing Trump’s campaign as it ventures from traditional swing states to unconventional settings like drive-through events, showcasing a strategy that blends familiar tactics with innovative outreach. Trump’s recent campaign style signifies a shift in how political candidates are engaging with voters. Traditionally, swing states have been battlegrounds, where candidates meticulously plan high-stakes appearances aimed at securing vital electoral votes. However, Trump has taken a different approach by integrating more casual, accessible events into his campaign strategy. These drive-through rallies not only cater to his base's desire for a more relaxed interaction but also capitalize on the current cultural climate, reflecting a broader trend towards convenience and accessibility in political engagement. Gold’s reports highlight the unpredictability of Trump’s campaign, which is characterized by spontaneous decisions that defy conventional political wisdom. In an era where voter engagement is paramount, Trump’s ability to draw large crowds in these unique settings speaks to his enduring influence and the loyalty of his supporters. It raises intriguing questions about the future of political campaigning and the effectiveness of reaching voters in a post-pandemic world. Moreover, the variance in Trump's approach illustrates how he is actively reshaping the narrative around traditional campaigning. By bringing the political conversation to the streets – quite literally in some cases – he encourages older models of voter interaction to evolve. This has implications far beyond his campaign, potentially setting new standards for how future candidates engage. Critics may argue that this tactic simplifies the complexities of political discourse, but it undeniably taps into a desire for connection and immediacy that many voters crave. With public gatherings still recovering from the effects of the pandemic, Trump’s drive-throughs could be seen as a bridge, ensuring accessibility while also fostering a sense of community among supporters. As we continue to monitor this campaign, one thing is clear: Trump remains a master of reinvention, pushing boundaries and redefining what it means to connect with voters. Observing these developments will not only be fascinating but crucial for understanding the evolving dynamics of American electoral politics. The road ahead is full of surprises, and those willing to closely follow this journey will find themselves at the forefront of a remarkable chapter in political history. Times Insider

Donald Trump has historic strength with black voters. Enten said, “I keep looking for this to change, to go back to a historical norm and it’s, simply put, has not yet. In 2020, Joe Biden was getting 86% of the African-American vote. Look at where it is now. It’s 70%, that’s a 16-point drop, John. And more than that, it’s not just that Joe Biden is losing ground, it’s that Donald Trump is gaining ground. You go from 7%, single digits at this point in 2020, to now 21%. And again, John, I keep looking for signs that this is going to go back to normal. And I don’t see it yet in the polling of anything. Right now, we’re careening towards a historic performance for Republican presidential candidate, the likes of which we have not seen in six decades.” Enten added, “Look at black voters age 50 and older and you’ll see, look, Joe Biden was leading amongst this group at this point by 83 points back in 2020. Now, it’s 74 points. So yeah, a slight decline in that margin but nothing out of this world. Look at black voters under the age of 50. Holy cow folks, Holy cow. Look at this, Joe Biden was up by 80 points among this group back at this point in 2020. Look at where that margin has careened down towards, its now just — get this — 37 points. That lead has dropped by more than half, Mr. Berman. Oh my, I just never seen anything like this. I’m like speechless because you always look at history and you go, ‘OK, this is a historic moment.’ If this polling is anywhere near correct, we are looking at a historic moment right now where black voters under the age of 50, which have historically been such a big part of the Democrati

"Breaking: Biden and Harris Reunite on Campaign Trail Amidst Controversial Election Loss to Trump - What Really Happened Behind Closed Doors Revealed!" In a political era where unity is the soundtrack and diversity the concert stage, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris join forces on the campaign trail for the first time since Biden announced his run for re-election. As if in a relay race, Biden passes the proverbial baton to Harris, his vice presidential pick, in what appears to be a strategic maneuver highlighting the importance of black women in the Democratic party's voter base. Drawing parallels to a game of chess, the decision to join forces strategically underlines the importance and power of black women in this political narrative. Harris, a symbol of promise and progress for many African Americans, undoubtedly reflects that chessboard queen—agile, versatile, and game-changing. Polls show Trump & Biden getting equal support from the youngest voters (18-34), versus huge pro-Democrat voting margins in 2016 (+19% pts) and 2020 (+24% pts). Other evidence also suggests that “Gen Z” (birth years 1997-2012) is more pro-liberty, pro-capitalist, and pro-America than the prior 3 generations. ——— Douglas Murray: “There is an expectation that young voters must vote left because we see and hear the screaming, camping protestors on privileged Ivy League campuses. These people seem to act like automatons — all repeating whatever far-left orthodoxy they are expensively educated to chant that week. But these people are not representative. Most people in this country do not go to Ivy League campuses.” “And while much attention is paid to these privileged kids in privileged institutions, they do not represent their generation any more than they represent this country. What is more, a lot of students and other young voters absolutely hate this stuff. They hate the demand to conformity. They hate the presumptuousness of these people. And they hate the way in which the culture tells them that there is only one way to think or vote. Young people are meant to rebel. If the orthodoxy is blindly leftist then it is likely that a lot of younger voters are going to rebel against that. They might express that by becoming more conservative or right-wing. Or they might express it in the most ‘screw-you’ way possible: which is to vote Trump.” https://lnkd.in/e69NDkEX

?? Today is a BIG day: Election Day in the US. ?? It is going to be one for the history books. Story time: One fun fact about me that you may not know is that I really like history. But it wasn't always that way. In high school, I (somehow) found myself in AP European History, and the sheer amount of kings named Henry, Charles, and Louis made me go cross-eyed. Since then, though, my thirst for knowledge about the past has grown exponentially. On a recent business trip to Washington D.C., instead of rushing in and out for meetings, I extended my trip to take in some of the rich history all around me. I went to the National Museum of African American History and Culture and stayed so long at the National Museum of Natural History that I was forced out at closing time. I even took the latest flight home on my last day there to spend FOUR hours at Ford's Theatre. To some, this might be the most boring way to spend time off, but to me, history is fascinating. It is full of events that MATTER, not just at that moment, but that endure and ripple throughout time. History helps give context for the world as we know it today. It helps us understand our heritage and offers valuable lessons in resilience, innovation, leadership and even failure. It helps us think critically and consider multiple perspectives. It also allows us to look at patterns so we can maybe anticipate and better prepare for the future. Ultimately, history changes the course we are on as a country and society. Today is one such day. A day that will change history, no matter the result. If you haven't yet, get out and vote! I know it might seem like one voice won't make the difference, but it really could make all the difference! Each one of us has the privilege of being part of the democratic process, so don't miss it! Our country is relatively young in the scheme of other societies around the world. As we embark on an election year, it is critical to approach the voting process with a thorough understanding and careful consideration of the candidates and their platforms. American University, in collaboration with the Kennedy Political Union, had the opportunity to bring in Donna Brazile, an experienced political strategist, to talk about her experience working on the Biden-Harris campaign. In this open forum, students expressed their frustration with the complicated political narrative the Biden-Harris Administration has committed to. The Blackprint had the opportunity to sit in and reflect on how Brazile thinks students ought to leverage the power in their votes and voices. To read the full article, click the link:

Vice President Kamala Harris’s emergence as the Democratic Party’s nominee for president has changed the dynamics of the race with Donald Trump by energizing the party’s base. While the Harris-Walz campaign is gaining momentum in national polls, the swing states that will matter most in the election remain tied in most polls. Moreover, two weeks after VP Harris entered the race, swing state polls continue to show that a large segment of Black voters are not yet willing to commit to voting for the Democratic ticket. Many statistical models show that a 5-to-7 percent decline in Black votes from where the Biden-Harris ticket performed in 2020 will make it very difficult for the Harris-Walz campaign to win. Therefore, we must do everything we can to convince Black swing voters to stay with the Democrats! The?Alliance for Black Equality?(https://lnkd.in/gWjp4YDd), a 527 independent expenditure committee (or Super PAC), is taking up this challenge by educating Black swing voters in Atlanta, Detroit, Milwaukee, and Philadelphia about the dangerous threat that Donald Trump’s anti-Black policy agenda as outlined in Project 2025 presents to their futures. Using the insights generated from message-testing experiments we’ve been running since the start of the cycle, ABE will attempt to inform and mobilize 300,000 Black swing voters through digital ads on X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and YouTube. Our first two ads will go into production next week, but we want to produce six more before November 1st. If you would like to help us hold Donald Trump accountable for his racist agenda and contribute to Kamala Harris’s historic bid to capture the White House, please register to join the national kickoff call next Thursday, August 15th at 7:00 PM CT | 8:00 PM ET | 5:00 PM PT. You can register for the call here: https://lnkd.in/gjxcVaEB During the kickoff call, we will present detailed findings from the tracking polls of the Black electorate that we have commissioned, preview our ad content, and gather your feedback on the project. If you can’t join us next Thursday but would still like to support the project, please visit our ActBlue page: https://lnkd.in/gnkvmvPB.

Reaching voters who feel like they're on the losing end of America's political morass is one thing. Engaging them, giving them a reason to vote, and ultimately turning them out are very different things. That's generally why I take issue with quotes like this one from Mayor de Blasio: "A single piece of information might have a radical impact on them, because they are by definition low-information..." And the idea that we need to "focus" people. The truth is that these voters have made a calculation -- that, of the things they care about and need in life, one of the things serving them least is their political participation. Yes, the media landscape is fragmented. That's a media buyer's challenge. But it's also an opportunity to find more purposeful and meaningful ways to be engaging with voters in a manner that might establish a connection. That's tough to do, to be honest. And it's often the first thing that gets cut from the spreadsheet when things tighten up, unfortunately. But it is important work, the groundwork for which needs to be being laid right now.
