BRANDING IS NOT MARKETING! I see alot of business owners mistake branding for marketing, but that's wrong. Branding and marketing are closely related but serve different purposes in a business. Branding is about giving your business identity. It involves creating a unique name, logo, design, and message that reasonate with your Audience and evoke specific emotions or perceptions in your target audience. Branding focuses on long-term image building and how people feel about your business, product, or service. It’s the foundation that defines your values, mission, and personality. For example; you see a fab chocolate (business) you liked the packaging, it attracts you to buy and have a taste, then you went ahead to buy it, that's branding. While Marketing is the strategies and activities used to promote your brand and sell products or services. It involves market research, advertising, content creation, and sales tactics to drive engagement and generate leads or sales. For example, for you to know about fab chocolate it was advertised to you or you see it around town and people are talking about it everywhere, that's marketing. Your brand is your reputation, it is who you are and marketing is what you do, it is the megaphone that amplifies it. Focus on crafting a unique brand identity and leverage marketing to reach and engage your target audience. Let’s break it down, according to me ????: Branding is who you are—your values, your voice, your unique story. It’s made up of who you serve and what you do for them. Yes, it’s your identity, but it’s not something you buy off the shelf. Your brand is YOU. It’s personal, authentic, and can’t be boxed up by someone else’s vision. A brand is your storefront. Don't get hung up in branding unless you're a BIG entity, no one will recognize your logo or care about your colors unless it's a hideous green. Branding can evolve with time and as long as you follow your intuition, you'll stay true to your brand. Marketing is how you put yourself (your brand) into the world. It’s the megaphone for your message, the strategies you use to get noticed, and the connections you build with your audience. Marketing is enticing people to come into your store and take a look at your product or services. Marketing is the most important skill you can learn. If you have a cure for diabetes but no one hears about it...you get the message. Your brand is dead in the water. Some people will be lookers, some won't like what they see, and others will need time on whether to partake of your services. While branding is a big part of your identity, it’s also inseparable from how you market and sell what you do. Yes, it takes some crafting to feel comfortable in your brand.
