CMHAA's Thriving from the Start Network recently ran a webinar in collaboration with Transitioning Well on Career Adaptability, that is, the skills, attitudes, and behaviours that enable us to proactively respond to challenges, changes and opportunities in our careers. Research shows that those with higher career adaptability have greater career satisfaction and personal wellbeing. In our recent webinar we learnt that career adaptability can be strengthened and developed by practicing each of its 4 domains: *Planning *Curiosity *Confidence *Control In this video series we asked some of the senior leaders, of member organisations of CMHAA, how they practice each of the domains of career adaptability. The third one is focused on confidence. Friends in the Industry - First off, I hope you’re having a great weekend spending time with those you care for most. For those operating over the road this weekend, I want to continue to express gratitude for your diligence in operating safely each day. I am very grateful for the opportunity to work at Gallagher Canada, and work closely with professionals like Harp Powar, Arlene Seymour, CAIB Hons, Zainab Nuristani, FCIP, CRM. One of the common qualities among our team, is a similar perspective on adding value to others. In our roles, one of the essential elements is discovering challenges. I believe something that sets us apart is our ability to help find solutions to challenges. Each company has challenges, with associated risks, and it’s important to have the ability to provide solutions to solve these challenges. When you’re capable of finding a solution, you can still learn to understand the challenge, but you’re less likely to get “stuck” on the challenge itself. Another important thing to consider is if one company is experiencing a specific challenge, it’s likely others are to. I’m grateful to work alongside professionals who understand how to find solutions that work, as those we serve greatly benefit. This provides us with the opportunity to serve others in a similar manner, to help them overcome challenges as well. When you take into consideration the experts your company partners with to solve challenges, I encourage you to consider how much time is spent on the challenge itself or on possible solutions & how effective these solutions are. I encourage you to reach out to our team at Gallagher Canada to learn more about how we can be of value to you and your organization. I hope you have a great Sunday! #IndustryAdvocates #SuccessInTransportation #GrowthMindset #TeamWork #Mindset #SolutionFocused

Sharing with my Remuneration & Reward network...job titles (including "Ticket Slayer"), to make us feel old! Thanks to Jairus Ashworth and the awesome team @ AON for an insightful and interesting event as always, and great to meet everyone during our networking session. Gone are the days when job titles indicated responsibility & accountability and "slays" were pulled by reindeers..! "The term “slay” is often used as slang to describe?someone who has done exceptionally well or impressed others. It is commonly associated with fashion, music, and artistic performance but can be used in various contexts"....such as job titles it seems...go figure!
The Ticket Slayer! The Queen of Shrugging! Chief Question Asker! Bath Tester??! Just some of the incredible job titles to make the final cut for Aon's "Jobbie" Awards this year! For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, each year Peoplecorp HR Recruitment Specialists co-hosts an informative lunch event with the team at Aon, where their leadership team share key insights into the Remuneration market. This is always followed by Jairus Ashworth sharing his favourite job titles from the 7 million (!!) job titles in the Aon global system. Thank you to Matthew Van Geest, Yvette O'Reilly and Jairus for a great session today. And thank you to the 140 Senior Reward professionals who joined us for lunch.

It all started at the Aon showcase event… Do you ever scroll through LinkedIn and think, why do these opportunities never happen to me? Or, I wish I could do that. That was me. For years, I thought it was because I didn’t have enough experience, or because I was applying to everything, thinking something would magically appear . But then I realised everything in life is my responsibility. I started spending hours researching, finding resources, and putting in real effort. I came to understand that sending applications that aren’t tailored to the role is a complete waste of time. How many of us are doing this? If you’re not getting where you want to be, you need to change and innovate to become that person. I truly believe the universe rewards hard work in unexpected ways. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been focusing on applications and attending events and… At the Aon showcase, with about 100 people there, my name was selected for a coffee meeting with an Aon leader. Things like this never used to happen to me, but now I realise it’s because I’m actually putting in the work. I’m excited and grateful for this chance to meet Alison Clarke and learn from her own personal experience ???? Take a moment to reflect: are you really trying? And if you’re not where you want to be, ask yourself: how can I work harder? Follow as I want to share with you any insights from this meeting, and to inspire each other to become the best versions of ourselves
