_There is no doubt that the ‘Drill Baby Drill’ program that Trump announced after coming to power for the second time will bring more serious risks to the environment. And the level of this risk is highest in developing and poor countries, one of which is Bangladesh. The country’s economic structure is not at all capable of dealing with various natural disasters every year, but rather depends on the help of rich countries. Therefore, this agreement on importing liquefied natural gas is not only encouraging the United States to destroy the environment, but also suicidal. While many other countries in the world are facing a shortage of fuel, the sudden large deal with Bangladesh, leaving everyone behind, raises many questions. Therefore, Bangladesh must also think about whether it will suffer more over time before entering into an agreement with any country, otherwise it will have to depend on the help of rich countries for its survival. #trending #news #opinion #environment #climatecrisis #climatejustice #environmentaldisaster #drillbabydrill #Bangladesh #Europe #Australia #USA #Russia #Asia #Africa

Rich oil and gas reserves, along with a strategic position for natural resource extraction from Africa's interior, make Angola a focal point for both China and the US. Some observers view the warming of US-Angola relations?as a larger plan by Washington to counter?China's influence in Africa. As part of the G7, the US wants to boost infrastructure investments in Africa through programs like the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGI) , which officially unveiled its first strategic economic project in Africa, known as the Lobito Corridor, earlier this year. https://lnkd.in/ed3pDj4z

In the Dark ----------- Executive Summary. Myanmar's power sector has been severely affected by the ongoing political turmoil. The power sector has been spiralling downward since 2021 with prolonged electricity blackouts throughout the country. Electricity generation has been declining, resulting in a widening power supply–demand gap.Sep 5, 2023 https://lnkd.in/gQr5wHjK. Fuelling the future ----------------- Fuelling the future, poisoning the present: Myanmar’s rare earth boom, 23 May 2024 In 2022, a Global Witness investigation revealed a shocking reality at the heart of the green energy transition. Unregulated mines in Myanmar had become an essential source of heavy rare earth elements (HREE), vital ingredients for the magnets used in electric vehicles (EV) and wind turbines worldwide. China, which controls nearly 90% of global rare earth processing capacity, had in effect outsourced much of its extraction to Myanmar, at terrible cost to the environment and local communities. Most of the HREE from Myanmar originate from Kachin State, on the border with China. https://lnkd.in/gHUyT_Tt
