Committee Member at IOSH

21 November at 1230pm - Come on in and join us and Kate Cairns for this amazing session about CLOCS!!!! CLOCS (Construction Logistics and Community Safety) is a world-first award-winning national standard to reduce the biggest risk our projects pose to communities: Road Danger. Construction HGVs are grossly disproportionate in cyclist and pedestrian deaths causing 4 times more fatalities off-site than there are total deaths on-site. Register here: https://lnkd.in/efwEnVUa The standard goes beyond legal compliance to demonstrate best practice requiring all stakeholders in construction to take responsibility for health & safety beyond the site hoardings. The presentation will be particularly relevant to: Clients procuring infrastructure projects. Designers of infrastructure and public realm. Principal Contractors. Project Managers. Supply Chain Procurement and Delivery. CDM and Health and Safety Advisors/ Consultants. Local Authorities Planners. Planning Consultants and Transport Planners. White Fleet Managers and Operators. The talk will cover the huge risk posed by construction vehicles to communities around construction sites, demonstrating likelihood is high and the consequence is catastrophic. It will show how such risk can be designed and managed out of construction projects and other road-based logistics by applying the standard across the supply chain. Kate Cairns speaks powerfully bringing a unique combination of personal and professional experience which has resulted in her successfully influencing change to policy at local, national and European level. Learn about Construction Logistics Plans (CLP’s) and other CLOCS tools to help you ensure safer logistics. The APS already works together/collaborates with CLOCS and IOSH may wish to follow this example. Relevant Competency Framework: Leadership & Management, Culture, Strategy, Risk Management, Planning, Sustainability, Stakeholder Management, Working with Others, Communication. Kate Cairns Chartered Civil Engineer, Chartered Environmentalist, ICE Fellow. Freelance Speaker, Trainer and Consultant. Specialist in & helping construction, engineering & logistics Clients embed sustainability, safety & inclusivity to save time, money, reputation and lives.
