Being a father is success in practice.
June is ???????????????????? ?????????????????? ??????????, a time to recognize the important role fathers play in their children’s development and well-being, from birth through adulthood. For children, having an involved father increases the likelihood that they will experience positive education, health, self-esteem, and social outcomes. Check out Fairfax County Department of Family Services' (DFS) #FatherhoodAwarenessMonth resources for more information:?https://lnkd.in/em-crjnd. In 2000, the Saint Louis MSA had 173,496 children under the age of 5. By 2023, that number had decreased to 149,353. If this trend continues, we may see fewer than 100,000 children under 5 by around 2060. The Saint Louis MSA needs to consider this real possibility, as the region is experiencing an alarming decline in families with children.

?? Breaking Stereotypes: Understanding the Term "Motherless Children's Home"?? Have you ever pondered why we call them "Motherless Children's Homes"? It's a term that inherently carries the shadow of an outdated stereotype, suggesting that if these children had fathers, they wouldn't be in such homes. This notion couldn't be further from the truth and does a disservice to the complex realities faced by families and children in need. In many cases, children are placed in care due to a myriad of reasons that have nothing to do with the absence of a father. These reasons include, but are not limited to, economic hardship, health issues, or the inability of either parent or extended family to provide adequate care. By labelling these sanctuaries as places for only "motherless" children, we inadvertently erase the diverse circumstances and stories of those within these walls. It's time we move beyond outdated terms and acknowledge the broad spectrum of reasons children might need the supportive environment of a children's home. Let's advocate for terms that accurately reflect the varied backgrounds of these children, fostering a more inclusive and understanding perspective. It's not just about the language we use; it's about recognising the dignity and respecting the stories of all individuals. Together, we can shift perspectives and encourage a more supportive and understanding society. ?? #StopTheStereotypes #InclusiveLanguage #SupportEveryChild
