Last month in Los Angeles, IE and Parks Project collaborated to host an exclusive screening of the feature length documentary Sign My Name to Freedom. The film follows Betty Reid Soskin, the iconic 102-year-old National Park Service ranger, who for years hid dozens of original songs narrating her personal journey through the 1960s and 70s. We were proud to meaningfully gather more than 70 folks, raise thousands of dollars to go towards the film, and reach more than 100,000 individuals with this incredible documentary. Shackleton’s iconic ship Endurance was found in 2022 and is now in the care of UKAHT following a conservation management plan devised in collaboration with Historic England. The film "California's Watershed Healing" profiles immediate actions to restore California's wildfire-vulnerable forests. https://ucm.edu/Dsc0vt Panel discussion afterward. https://lnkd.in/gxnVMZaS Photo shows restored forest after fuels treatment, where beneficial, low-intensity fire can be introduced. With few ladder fuels and lower fuels loads, fire is less likely to jump from ground to canopy.
