Last week at the Growing Global 2024 conference, we celebrated the local impact of world talent in St. Louis. The annual event brought in changemakers from around the country and included remarks from St. Louis native and OpenAI founder Sam Altman. Growing Global 2024 showcased how diverse perspectives and skills are shaping a brighter future for St. Louis, and how we must harness the power of the foreign-born population to continue seeing progress in our community. Highlights included a shoutout to our friends at St. Louis Mosaic Project for their International Mentor program, which pairs local women with newcomers seeking jobs. Last month, during International Women's Day, my sister shared a post she got from this platform about a group of women who shared their career stories during the Emerging Women Conference. These women had unique similarities: none of them started their careers with what they studied in school, and their first jobs had nothing to do with their current career success. Yet, they persevered, explored their present, and grabbed every opportunity that came their way. Now, they are all well-established in their respective fields, from an entrepreneurial venture to leading in their firms. ??What have you learned from this? Your career path may seem unclear, but don't let the media fool you into thinking that everyone else has it figured out except for you. ??Take a deep breath, and focus on doing your current job effectively. Explore free online courses to gain additional skills and remain open to greater opportunities. Everything will add up eventually. Remember, success is not guaranteed to be a straight path, but if you remain committed to #growth and diligent in your efforts, you will eventually figure everything out. ??Don't sit back and let life happen to you; take charge of your journey, make the most out of every opportunity that comes your way, and believe in yourself. You have what it takes to succeed ?? This is Idiyakke Udosen #foreverynewday I use my #For_Every_New_Day series to walk you through your professional growth journey, so follow for more of this content. I got ya?? #Day_6

I had the privilege of hosting an International Women's Day panel this week, and we had a fantastic discussion on embracing different career paths. Here are some of the key takeaways from our conversation: - Find allies and mentors to help you take the next steps in your career. - Be resourceful and build up your toolkit. - Grit and determination are crucial. - Say yes to new opportunities and be open to new ideas that will help you build your skillset. - Have a policy rather than a plan, and give yourself the freedom to try new things. - Follow your instincts and take risks. - Accept that you won't know everything when you start a new role, but you will learn quickly. - Be curious and put your hand up for new opportunities. Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all approach to building a successful career. Embrace your unique journey and keep an open mind to new experiences and opportunities. #InternationalWomensDay #CareerAdvice #EmbraceChange Lucy Young Virginia Newman

<#AustralianDream in Sydney????>Featured in the #NICHIGOPress as one of the Japanese women working in Australia (the only Japanese-language media outlet in Australia that is approved to carry government greetings). It is a very inspiring article for those who want to work overseas, especially in Sydney. The conversation was an eye-opening experience for those who are thinking about building a career overseas in the future. Had the opportunity to have a conversation with Eri Sasaki from Canva and Iori Forsyth from the Australia Japan Business Co-operation Committee (AJBCC) We talked about how we built their career experience in Australia and how they utilized #Linkedin to build their opportunities. It was an eye-opener. This article was featured in the?March 2024 issue of the Australian Japanese Media NICHIGO Press, 'Opportunities abound in Australia.Shining Women: A Roundtable Discussion' (in Japanese). This is WOMENCANFLY.CO 's own English translation of the article. How did you seize opportunities in Australia? ?What exactly did you do? ?What is it about Sydney that attracts you more than other cities? ?What are the advantages of Sydney over other cities? We hope that this article will be empowering for those who want to work overseas in the future. Thank you very much #nichgopress for doing this! ?? I recently had the privilege of attending the Karren Brady's Women in Business & Tech Expo, and it left a lasting impact on me. The keynotes from remarkable women were filled with insights, and I’m walking away with so much - both professionally and personally ?? After two days of listening to inspiring female leaders, it reignited my motivation to keep learning, upskill, and always put my best foot forward. My Top 3 Takeaways ??: Personal – Listening to Katie Piper’s story was incredibly moving. She reminded me that life can change in an instant, so it's essential to do something meaningful with your time. Her message about being courageous and unapologetically yourself was definitely a reminder I needed to hear. Professional – Dr Tracy Rea Chartered Fellow CIPD’s advice to "treat every job as an apprenticeship" was an eye-opener. It’s a refreshing perspective that emphasises lifelong learning. No one has all the answers, and it’s okay to not know everything - what’s important is to stay curious and never be afraid to ask questions - Also something I needed to be reminded of! Both – During the Pace Integration Panel, one of the most powerful insights was the shared belief that the unique traits women bring - like empathy and emotional intelligence - often perceived as less assertive, are actually critical to the workplace, success and real-life. These qualities drive morale and foster innovation within teams, ultimately leading to better outcomes in business and tech. One of the event's standout aspects was the strong sense of community ?? There was no gatekeeping! The openness to share knowledge and experiences made it feel truly collaborative. Every woman genuinely wanted to see others succeed, promoting support and solidarity in the ‘Women in Business and Tech’ community. This spirit of mutual support reinforced the importance of lifting each other up, celebrating everyone's wins, and breaking down barriers together. I’m excited to take these lessons into my own journey and continue pushing forward in both my career and personal life. #WomenInTech #WomenEmpowerment #ContinuousLearning #CareerGrowth #FemaleLeaders

And that's a wrap! For the last 4 months, I have been helping Generation Success, a social enterprise in London dedicated to removing barriers for a more equal society. Nobody should have their career determined by their birthplace! I had the privilege of shaping one of the most impactful projects I've ever been involved in. From now on, anyone focused on or interested in #socialmobility will hear about this company's most precious upcoming initiative: Open Your Doors Day. On September 18th, 2025, companies across the UK and Ireland that are committed to creating a more equal society will join this movement. They will open their doors to young people aged 18 to 30, hosting skills-based workshops, mock interviews, one-on-one sessions, and more. The positive impact of a single session on a person's life is hard to believe until you hear from the attendees themselves. It empowers them, boosts their self-esteem, removes their fears, and allows them to experience a world they had never seen before. Some young participants will be hired, start positions as placement students or interns, and others will join the database of cutting-edge companies dedicated to creating a more equal workforce. I was scared when I started this project. It had been kept in a drawer for quite some time and seemed challenging to reshape, price, and structure. Building a core team to ensure we were never stuck was daunting. But we did it, together, little by little. I learned to use new online tools, to work with people from countries I had never worked with (culture counts!), to rely on those who could help push the project forward, and to be flexible yet firm in a completely new environment. Now, we are proud of what Open Your Doors represents. I recommend any company I know to save the date and engage in the movement. This would have never been possible without James Adeleke (FRSA). He entrusted me to lead this short-term project, despite never having worked with me before. This project was close to his heart, and he always listened to and trusted me. Visar Pllana, you were key as well. Your ability to turn abstract concepts into clear messages is impressive, and your patience in editing slides and parts of the website knows no limits ??. Julia Micevska, thanks so much for removing bottlenecks when necessary. Now, ready for the next adventure (call me if you need me!), I feel grateful for those who helped me and pride in myself for accomplishing a difficult task once more. #openyourdoors #openyourdoorsday #equity #equality

?????????? ??????'?? ?????????? ??????. But we can teach them to. The ???????? ?????? ???????? initiative provided thoughtful learnings on the power of sponsorship for women's career progression. We learned that: 1??. Systems that encourage women to seize opportunities and make their voices heard must be implemented. 2?? A simplified process, framework, and platform is needed to boost participation in safe spaces for both genders. 3?? Matching senior women with younger women for mentoring within the same group is effective. Moving forward, how does one go about finding a sponsor within their organisation to accelerate their career? Here are some best practices: → Identify influential leaders who are committed to driving diversity and enhancing career growth. → Showcase your value by highlighting achievements that align with organisational goals.? → Build trust by developing meaningful relationships with potential sponsors and demonstrating commitment to organisational success.? → Clearly articulate your career goals and outline how sponsorship could assist in achieving them.? → If needed, directly request sponsorship and explain why their support is pivotal.? → Engage in activities that enhance your skills and visibility within your professional community.? → Utilise industry events and conferences to broaden exposure and potential sponsorship opportunities. At ???????? ?????? ????????, we taught women to speak men, and men to speak women. It led to the birth of ?????????????? - a platform aimed at balancing the power dynamics in professional settings.
