Hey people! How was your week? It's been an intense week for me with a mix of different things such as LANs, SD-WAN, and a bit of ISE. I've been using Catalyst Center (DNAC) to provision some templates and I ran into some interesting things. As I onboarded my switch using PNP, the device will first have a temporary IP on VLAN 1. As part of the provisioning, another VLAN is then used as the management VLAN. Now, the management VLAN of this core switch is only allowed on the trunk to the other core switch. Those ports were down because the template had LACP on those ports and the other switch was not yet configured with LACP. Hence, those ports became suspended. You can change this behavior by using the following command on the portchannel: interface Port-channel1 no port-channel standalone-disable Note that this needs to be applied before the ports become suspended or you'll have to flap the ports. With this command, the ports will operate as individual ports if the portchannel has not yet been formed. Thanks to Peter Palúch for providing this information. I also ran into an interesting scenario with ISE where a certificate of intermediate issuing CA had expired, but the root CA was still valid. Validation of certs seems to be somewhat of dark arts, if all the certs of the chain need to be valid, or only the root CA. This would also be dependent on if the entire chain is sent or not. What has been your experience with certificates? Have you had scenarios where part of the chain had expired? What was the consequence? Did you work on anything interesting this week?
