Earlier this week I listened to Peter Czapp talk about how a happy team makes for a better business. He also mentioned that happy people are focused and aligned on achieving the same purpose. This is very different from the command and control thinking that was omnipresent in the past and still adopted by many companies around the world. Ten years ago, we set up the Inspiring Workplaces Awards, the world's #1 non-survey-based awards, to recognise businesses which are filled with happy and aligned people. Since then, we've been using the award winners to encourage others to put their people first, have a purpose-driven culture, embrace diversity, give their employees a voice and have inspiring leadership and communication.
