I recently came across an impressive film made by a young school student, Abeer Bhaskar, living in New York. The film provides details of the intricate process of seasonal distress migration in India in very simple ways; highlights key issues faced by children; and offers solutions proposed by parents, teachers and local civil society organisations. Very pedagogically made film, like a professional! #distress migration, #seasonal migration in India, #IOM, #UN Migration https://lnkd.in/gB6fZiYE

I get agitated sometimes when is see people wasting their time in Pakistan and not looking to grow outside Pakistan. I sit in my office and keep exploring the beautiful campuses of different universities around the world and get cognitive dissonance seeing ppl ignoring such far-reaching opportunities abroad. Every time I counsel my students, I keep them aware of the fact that you don't have a future in Pakistan. Seek Refuge abroad. Sometimes we have to be realistic to Awaken their Consciousness. #counselor #studentsuccess #students

I had the previlege of visiting Muslim Aid UK Education programme alongside Muslim Aid Sri Lanka, where i was asked to share my thoughts on the significance of a child’s #education, particularly in disadvantaged communities. Here is what I shared: #Education is the foundation upon which a child’s future is built. It is not just about academic knowledge but the development of critical thinking, creativity, and character. When we educate a child, we empower them to navigate life’s challenges, to contribute meaningfully to society, and to pursue their dreams with confidence. Every lesson they learn opens doors to new opportunities, fosters resilience, and instills values that shape a better world. Investing in a child’s #education is not only an investment in their future, but in the future of our communities and our world.

Have we truly achieved freedom in our education system? Decades after independence, the blueprint of British education still shapes how we think and learn in India. It's time to question whether we are truly free or still constrained by the educational legacies of our colonial past. How can we liberate our educational practices to reflect our diverse heritage and foster innovation? #EducationReform #IndianEducation #CulturalRevival #InnovativeLearning

The British colonial rule severely impacted India's educational institutions through systematic neglect and exploitation. Traditional schools like pathshalas, madrasas, and gurukuls, which had been the bedrock of Indian education, were marginalized and underfunded as the British focused on establishing schools that served their administrative needs. They introduced a curriculum centered on Western knowledge and English language proficiency, sidelining indigenous languages, literature, and sciences. This not only eroded India's rich educational heritage but also created a divide between the educated elite and the masses. The colonial education policies were designed to produce a class of clerks and subordinates rather than independent thinkers or leaders, stifling intellectual and cultural growth. Additionally, the British diverted funds from public education to support their administrative and military expenditures, leaving Indian schools with inadequate infrastructure, poorly trained teachers, and limited resources. This plunder of educational resources left a legacy of educational disparity and underdevelopment that India had to overcome in the post-independence era. The infographic depicts how the Indian School System was built back to vibrance and continues to produce some of the best minds in the world.

In a chilling development from Tibet, Chinese police have allegedly abducted a 15-year-old Tibetan student as part of a repressive "patriotic education" campaign. ?? This raises grave concerns about human rights violations and the ongoing cultural suppression in the region. Such acts remind us of the urgent need for global awareness and action. Reflecting on my own journey, I remember the power of education and freedom in shaping my beliefs. Imagine being stripped of this basic right. How would it impact your sense of identity? Let's spark a dialogue today. Why is the world so silent? What can we do to amplify the voices of those who are unjustly silenced? ?? Over 1,000 incidents of forced "patriotic education" have been reported—a stark reminder of the struggles faced by minority communities under oppressive regimes. ?? What are your thoughts on supporting global human rights initiatives? #Tibet #HumanRights #GlobalAwareness #SpeakUp #CulturalSuppression

?? Reflecting on Global Affairs and Education As someone deeply engaged in Global Affairs, I often reflect on the importance of education in shaping our future. In particular, the ongoing plight of Afghan girls being deprived of their right to education is both heartbreaking and urgent. It’s a reminder that while we pursue our goals, we must also advocate for those whose voices are silenced. What actions can we take to support education for all, especially in regions facing such adversity? I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas! #GlobalAffairs #HumanSecurity #EducationForAll

As you head back into the classrooms this week, we wish you the absolute best of luck and a whole bundle of strength! In your discussions about school holidays with your students, why not explore topics like Eid alongside Easter? In our latest blog, "Understanding Ramadan and Eid: A Brief Guide for Teachers," I have a conversation with Boman Adil, an incredibly knowledgeable Afghan Multicultural Education Aide to discuss Ramadan and Eid, and what that looks like for our students. This may be particularly useful for any teachers new to working with Muslim students. You can check out our conversation here: https://lnkd.in/g3XeuBCN
