Shift5 CTO Egon Rinderer spoke with Mark Pomerleau of DefenseScoop about GPS spoofing, and how Shift5’s new GPS Integrity Module mitigates risk around this adversarial deception tactic: “Your GPS is good until it’s not. And it’s very obvious when you’re being jammed, because you no longer have GPS as an option. GPS spoofing works very differently and is more insidious, because it doesn’t erode the operator’s trust in what they’re getting from their GPS if it’s done right. Satellite Imagery Based Forensics: Working on BlackShore's branch to support on subjects where we cannot always use #crowdsourcing, but still can use critical elements 'lent' from the Cerberus mapping and data labelling platform. For example so far in my experience, not only the gathering of data, extracting information and creating infographics are important in #court rooms to reveal truths of wrong doing. Also the #training of staff working with law such as #lawyers and #judges is an important factor. Using our #elearning capabilities and lending these from Cerberus, we have the truth covered within all of our capabilities. It's incredible to think that a simple photo of a cat, for example, is not just a photo in the world of data. It's a file with a specific format, date, location, compression, quality, defining a specific type of cat with a specific background. Taking it a step further, this same analysis can be applied to videos. And so we would be living in the surveillance society that Foucault so widely warned about. On one hand, we have a safer world, but on the other, a more monitored one. I like to think that cameras don't stop us from being ourselves, from showing affection, being spontaneous, and acting naturally.
