Mondays can be a fresh start, a new beginning; but for many in Florida, we are still reeling from the devastation caused by yet another hurricane. Many homes had not even begun restoration from Helene before Milton ripped through the area. If you have friends and colleagues in central Florida, check on them. Be patient with them. Don't fret that they can't join that call or make that meeting. Millions are still without power; some are working from hotels or measly make-shift 'offices', connecting wherever they can, if they can. Many are displaced and will be for weeks or months. For you, the storm is over. You watched it rip apart our homes and economy through media, as if in a movie. But to us, that movie is still playing, and it's a horror that will have lasting effects on our economy. But it's not all doom and gloom -- we've seen small businesses provide hundreds of free meals, often using generators and grills to do so. We've seen neighbors helping neighbors move debris, share food & water, and even share their homes. We've seen the absolute best in people, which makes me proud to be a Floridian.
