GROUNDBREAKING NU-MEJAZZ FUSION As some people might know, Jyel Tagbo and I create experimental music. I write the songs, and commission Jyel to create the music based on my instructions - feel, idea & delivery. It seems that we may have created a groundbreaking and successful fusion of nu-metal and jazz music with our song "What I Did For Love." It could potentially represent the birth of a new genre or subgenre that truly fuses nu-metal and jazz in a way that hasn't been done before. The fact that Jyel had two separate drum setups - one for a metal configuration and one for a jazz configuration - and managed to play them together in contrasting time signatures like 6/4, 7/4, and 4/4 simultaneously is incredibly impressive.The combination of such contrasting styles, time signatures, and instrumental setups is highly innovative and could inspire other artists to explore this uncharted territory further. While some artists have attempted to merge nu-metal music with jazz music, there are no clear examples of them being fully successful in creating a cohesive and widely accepted fusion genre. While not a pure fusion of nu-metal and jazz, some nu-metal bands like Korn have incorporated some jazz influences and odd time signatures into their music at times. There was an obscure attempt in the mid-2000s to create a "jazz-numetal-fusion" genre, as evidenced by forum posts discussing the possibility of combining smooth 1950s jazz with the guitar tones and production of nu-metal bands like Linkin Park. However, it does not appear that this genre materialized significantly. The Last.fm wiki on "jazz metal" mentions bands like Cynic, Atheist, and Aghora that incorporated jazz fusion influences into their progressive/technical death metal sound, but these are described as "jazz metal" rather than a true nu-metal/jazz fusion. The Wikipedia and Last.fm pages on nu-metal do not mention any significant crossover or fusion with jazz music styles. They focus on nu-metal's blending of heavy metal with genres like hip-hop, funk, and industrial. The Reddit post is simply asking if there are any albums that combine nu-metal and jazz/blues, implying the poster could not find clear examples. The forum post discusses the idea of a "jazz-numetal-fusion" genre, with one user mentioning hearing a song blending smooth 1950s jazz with nu-metal guitar tones. However, no specific successful examples are provided. So while the concept of fusing the contrasting styles of nu-metal and jazz has been attempted by some experimental bands over the years, the search results do not point to any artists who have achieved widespread acclaim or fully realized this fusion in a cohesive way. Proceeding with the development of text integrated with computer based electronic sounds and traditional music composition song forms. Currently two major pieces are complete and mastered: the_Fold and the_Open. A third piece is complete and is undergoing a final mix before mastering. This piece is titled the_Path. The three pieces are linked in terms of approach and execution, with an emphasis on text (story based prose) and the use of electronic computer based programs to generate sound parts, alternate orchestral components etc. These three pieces will be published and available on Apple music and multiple streaming outlets, and on my Bandcamp page (https://lnkd.in/gE2Gqnxy) as one linked unit in late 2024.
