Women farmers account for one-half of the world’s food supply, yet they regularly face barriers that prevent them from improving their economic outcomes, notably lack of information. In #Guatemala, an information campaign about a program that enables farmers to be registered food providers to public schools greatly boosted women farmers’ awareness of the program and their sales. However, there was no impact on participation in the school feeding program, due to structural factors in its design. Union Minister Amit Shah launched WHITE REVOLUTION 2.0 with several initiatives aimed at reforming India’s dairy cooperative sector, focusing on empowering female farmers, enhancing employment opportunities, and boosting milk production. The introduction of "WHITE REVOLUTION 2.0," a cooperative-led program to strengthen the dairy industry. The four primary goals of White Revolution 2.0 are to :- 1. Increase local milk production, 2. Empower women farmers, 3. Strengthen dairy infrastructure, and 4. Expand dairy exports. The program aims to increase milk procurement by dairy cooperative societies by 50% over the next five years, targeting uncovered villages and expanding organized sector participation. It also plans to establish and reinforce 100,000 cooperative societies, connecting them with milk routes and necessary infrastructure. The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) will initially contribute Rs 40,000 per multi-purpose Primary Agricultural Credit Society (M-PACS) to support 1,000 societies, with further funding from the National Programme for Dairy Development 2.0 under the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD). The "cooperation among cooperatives" initiative includes three major elements: issuing Rupay – Kisan Credit Cards to dairy farmers, providing micro-ATMs to cooperatives, and opening cooperative bank accounts for societies and their members. These programs aim to enhance the cooperative sector, benefiting around 130 million farmers across India. #Dairy #Whiterevolution #Development #Science #Empowerment #Milk #GovernmentofIndia

Did you know that you can turn pumpkin seeds into oil? Well value addition and innovation are crucial in the food system. Farmers in agribusiness are now taking advantage of underutilized crops such as pumpkin, cassava, and sweet potato to turn them into products that have a long shelf life and more monetary value. Through the HealthyDiets4Africa project, we are supporting women and youths in agribusiness to scale their innovations and businesses around such value chains. We provide them with the necessary business development skills, knowledge, and enlightenment on how the landscape of business and food safety regulations operate. We believe innovations have the potential to shift the perception and consumption patterns of indigenous foods in Africa, consequently improving the health outcomes of our communities. #PartnersAgainstHunger #HealthyDiets4Africa

Hi everyone! I have an exciting idea to transform farming practices into a more sustainable, eco-friendly, and efficient system PM SoilSolutions (PM-SS) PM SoilSolutions is an agriculture initiative operating in the private sector. Agriculture initiative is a scheme that ?strives at addressing given challenges and promote sustainability and initiate productivity in the agricultural sector. PM-SS's vision is to provide a simplified web/mobile application where farmers and people interested in agriculture can virtually share ideas and knowledge and request agricultural resources such as seeds, fertilizers and equipment from PM-SS. We will provide free short courses on the application which will be easier for everyone who want to cultivate their agricultural knowledge and give them most strategic agricultural context. PM-SS address the “No Poverty” goal because poverty is associated with inadequate access to basic needs, as mentioned by Maslow that food is the first need, therefore it must be given attention so that our citizens would not starve. PM-SS will ensure to dwell on this issue by elevating ?the food security which can be achieved by managing and improving agricultural sector which will result in the wellbeing of individuals and economic expansion. Given the current statistics in SA, it is evident that certain groups of people may starve in 2025. Our vision as PM-SS is assist our country in eliminating any thread that may face the agricultural sector. Investing in this will lead to a country end up achieving absolute advantage against other nations. More companies will achieve economies of scale due to availability of raw resources. Increased access to food will lead to low food cost making them affordable for domestic individuals. What do you think about the concept? Is it a game-changer or not? Share your thoughts in the comments below! #Nopoverty #Agribusiness moreover if you're interested in knowing more about the 2025 starvation issue click the link below to get more information https://lnkd.in/eY4RbHxf

I have a solid basic understanding of the US Farm Bill but strive for more detailed insights. Seeking thoughts from individuals sincerely knowledgeable about the Farm Bill (including Center for Science in the Public Interest), or possessing skills to contribute to a discussion on evolving the bill to address current national food-related health concerns. Interested in fostering positive change in this critical area. Please note I’m not endorsing everything in this article. I’m simply using it as a framework from which to begin a conversation. Insights prove that registered dietitians (RDs) are interested in agriculture-related sustainability, with 86% believing that dairy foods contribute to a sustainable food system. ?? To embrace their curiosity, Dairy West hosted engaging dialogues with agricultural experts at the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics state meetings in Idaho and Utah. The panel included farmers from various agricultural sectors, including dairy, row crops, and orchards. These conversations highlighted how collaborative agriculture can advance progress towards a sustainable, equitable, and nutritious food system that will nourish future generations. Each farmer closed the session by sharing one thing they wanted dietitians to keep in mind while navigating client conversations: 1. Farmers have nothing to hide. They love to open their farms and host consumer tours anytime! 2. Farmers would never do anything to harm people, land or resources. Farmers work hard to leave the farm better than how they found it, oftentimes to pass on to future generations. 3. If a farm goes out of business, it cannot be sustainable – it is in the farmer’s best interest to take care of the land, animals and resources in their care. 4. Support local farms and purchase local. 5. We are all in this together! The more we work together and provide education alongside each other, we empower consumers to make informed, confident and competent decisions! This panel was planned and executed by Dairy West's Marissa Watson, VP of sustainability, and Jaclyn St. John MS, RDN, LD, director of community wellness, hunger and sports nutrition. ?? Day 4 of the African Food Systems Forum 2024: Reflections & Key Takeaways ?? As the forum comes to a close, Friday was yet another day packed with insightful discussions that addressed some of the most pressing issues in African agriculture and food systems. Key Highlights: 1) Shaping African Food Systems through Sustainable Livestock Innovations: One session I found particularly compelling focused on how sustainable livestock innovations can help shape resilient African food systems. With climate change as a persistent challenge on the continent, investing in resilient livestock systems can not only combat food insecurity but also strengthen community resilience to the adverse impacts of climate change. 2) Women’s Leadership in Food Systems: In the high-level plenary on Women’s Leadership in Food Systems, the emphasis was on the critical role of women in driving food systems transformation and improving nutrition outcomes. Empowering women to make informed choices around nutrition and agriculture will accelerate progress towards sustainable food security. When women are equipped with resources and decision-making power, entire communities benefit. 3)Engaging Youth for Food Systems Transformation: The Conversation with Youth session stood out for its focus on engaging young people as drivers of innovation in food systems. Leaders were encouraged to adopt a demand-driven approach, listening to the needs of youth and investing in their ideas. Youth are not only tech-savvy but are also uniquely positioned to scale up innovations and transform the food sector through digital solutions. If we truly want to innovate, youth need to be at the forefront. The Great Conversation: Private Sector in Agri-Food Systems: Another important discussion was around how governments can create an enabling environment for the private sector to thrive within agri-food systems. Access to finance, involvement in strategic planning, and capacity building for local farmers were highlighted as crucial steps. A key message was the need to shift agriculture from a social sector to a commercial sector, where both local markets and exports can thrive. My favorite quote: “The right policies can empower local farmers to sustainably feed both local markets and drive export growth.” #SustainableAgriculture #WomenInAgriculture #YouthInAg #ClimateAdaptation #FoodSecurity #PrivateSectorAg #FoodSystemsTransformation #AWARDFellowships #AFSForum2024
