The UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY has recently appointed new leaders for two critical information warfare organizations. Lt. Gen. Melvin Carter has assumed the role of the United States Marine Corps' deputy commandant for information, succeeding Lt. Gen. Matthew Glavy, who is retiring after a 38-year military career. Additionally, Vice Adm. Mike Vernazza has become the "I-Boss," Commander, Naval Information Forces, replacing Vice Adm. Kelly Aeschbach, who also retired after a 34-year career. Under the leadership of Glavy, the Marine Corps released key doctrinal publications like MCDP-8 "Information" and MCWP 8-10 "Information in Marine Corps Operations," which aim to incorporate information as a critical warfighting tool. Aeschbach also played a significant role in advancing the US Navy's cyber enterprise, including the creation of specific work roles for digital warriors. These leadership changes in the Navy and Marine Corps' information warfare organizations signal the increasing importance of information dominance in modern warfare. The new leaders will be responsible for further developing the capabilities, training, and integration of information warfare across the services. #NavyInformationWarfare #MarineCorpsInformation #CyberSecurity #InformationDominance #MilitaryLeadership
