98 days from idea to execution. Bomber modifications began roughly 70 days in. These days, we can’t get on contract in less than 3 months. Today, industry is needed to advance US Air Power. We need PPBE reform and better ways to navigate the contracting process.

Turning the impossible into the possible, starts not with the idea itself but actually before that with an audacious spirit and an unshakeable will to win/succeed. These fundamental attributes are essential in our collective efforts to try and solve the wicked problems, that continue to present themselves to us almost daily, in various forms. The Doolittle raid is just one such example, of a seeming impossible task turning into reality. The skill and bravery of all the flight crews and support personnel involved were just a few of the many other contributing factors to mission execution. Whilst on reflection, the raid's ultimate success and overall impact can be debated on I do not believe that anyone can say that General James 'Jimmy' Doolittle and his team were lacking in the key fundamentals; in particular the individual and collective will and sheer audacity needed to be successful.
