Companies who win in a VUCA world are those who enbrace failure as a path to success. You simply have to fail fast to succeed sooner and fail better.
Ron Hyams MA (Cambridge University) and Sean Stegmann gave an enlightening talk about the #FearlessWorkplace at the @PeechHotel. Quote from Dr Khosi Jiyane “The session resonated with my understanding of the concept of #psychologicalsafety and its significance for high performance.” Join us for our next talk called #VisionAccelerator on 18 July (Cape Town) and 19 July (Gauteng).

“All of us have the same sort of problems, and you get an opportunity to listen to how other people do their solutions. You never know what’s going to save you literally hundreds of thousands of dollars, just by hearing about how someone else solved a problem.” The benefits of attending City Summit are enormous! Check out our recap video from Day 1 of #CitySummit24, and hear from attendees on the value of participating in our annual conference. #NLC100

Trump & Canada : Martha Hall Findlay, Bernie Etzinger, John Parisella and Glenn Williamson offer advice on how Canada should respond: Findlay who is Director and Palmer Chair, School of Public Policy, University of Calgary says “Being negative is not helpful. And using the global trade numbers, trade is a bad word in the US… Whereas we have really clear positives to talk about on specific products, specific sectors and specific states…the effectiveness of having individual governors calling the White House, that was absolutely key.. We shouldn't be holding back on our energy production because of the Americans or because of some internal ideologies. We should be building infrastructure. We should be building Energy East.… we are stronger together. We all benefited from NAFTA and the USMCA because we are stronger together. To reinforce that positive, I think is really important.” Etzinger, who served as our Consul to Silicon Valley and spokesperson at our Embassy in Washington. says “,the more you're seen as helpful to the United States, the greater your influence is, the better you have the administration's ear. And I'd argue that keeping and gaining that ear obviously has to be a key objective of where we stand and where we go....On the energy piece, we used to say that Canada was America's security blanket ?…the stable upper north in terms of energy supply..but we have to solve our own energy issues, whether we're going to have Energy East, whether we're going to have the access that we need to other parts of the world.” ? Parisella who served as Quebec Delegue General in New York and as chief of staff to Quebec premiers Bourassa and Charest says “we have to reinforce our messaging. It's very important. I certainly don't think we should say yes automatically to things, but I think we should keep the dialogue going….Trudeau and Trump had a very big fallout in 2018, when they had the G7 conference in Charlevoix, and Trudeau criticized some policies of the Trump administration. Trump tweeted that Trudeau was weak and not to be counted on, and yet two years later they signed a deal…it's very important that we stand our ground and that we do our diplomacy, that we reinforce the contacts. It's in everybody's advantages to have a win-win approach. We were able to have a deal…And we're going to have to deal with the question of NATO. But we can't just have words. We have to also have results.” Williamson who is Founding Chair of the Canada Arizona Business Council and previously served as Canada’s Honourary Consul in Arizona. says “Canada needs to, with this specific president, is say yes to everything and work your way to know, instead of saying no to everything and working your way to yes. Time is going to be critically important. You're going to see leadership and decision-making at a level that we have not seen in the United States in decades.”
The latest #TheGlobalExchange features a recording from our recent webinar, with guests Martha Hall Findlay, Bernie Etzinger, Glenn Williamson, and John Parisella C.M. , O.Q. joining Colin Robertson to discuss Trump's second #inauguration and what it means for #Canada.
