Thomas Goetz, Application Engineer II at Inductive Automation, told us about his incubator project: “My journey of incubating eggs started 10 years ago where my passion for technology and fascination with hatching birds drove me to build a better system. It started with a styrofoam incubator with manual controls and no logging capabilities. From there I upgraded to a dorm room refrigerator, an Arduino-based control system and a Visual Basic UI. It worked well but the UI was clunky and far from user friendly. Three years ago, at a previous employer, I discovered Ignition and got wind of Ignition Maker Edition and knew that it was the next step in my journey.” Current Incubator Setup: - Ignition UI for setpoint control, alarm notifications, and data monitoring - Wemos D1 Mini running control logic - Si7021 Humidity and Temperature Sensor - Communication via Hive MQTT broker - Relay controlled heater and humidity pump - Custom cam system for automatic egg rotating Want more details?
