Choosing between golf initiatives and F&B is like choosing between tires and fuel for your vehicle. It's not really a choice. While there is no more meaningful dollar for a private club or public course than a golf/membership dollar, there are other "contribution dollars" that can be nearly as impactful. Merchandise sales can account for as little as 5% of total revenue, but those dollars are generally much higher margin than food, and can help carry December (if you're up North). F&B dollars can be narrower in margin (especially food) but help make the golf dollar possible with member dining and other on-course outlets. Plus, not all of your diners golf - but all of your golfers eat! Molson Coors’ alcohol-free beer brand Peroni 0.0%?is putting Formula 1 racing at the center of a new marketing push that includes a partnership with racing team Scuderia Ferrari and a presence at the recent Miami Grand Prix,?according to a press release. The non-alcoholic beer is also partnering with sports betting platform DraftKings to give consumers the chance to win up to $15,000 through contests surrounding domestic Formula 1 races. A tie-up with shoemaker M.Gemi includes the release of two styles of Peroni-inspired shoes based on suede driver loafers The Felize. Are you familiar with Topgolf Callaway Brands? You may recognize the name Callaway, but the company is actually a conglomerate that owns several globally recognized golf brands. And yes, what you see in the chart is the massive explosion in golf popularity that occurred during the pandemic. Interestingly, unlike many other pandemic winners, the company continued to grow in 2023 (after the pandemic period). However, in its Q1 2024 report published two weeks ago, net revenue dropped by 2% y/y. Has the turning point finally arrived?
