What happens when you bring the entire Wallboard Support and Operations team to HQ for a week? ?? Big plans. ?? Bold ideas. ?? And way too many inside jokes. We had an amazing time in Dallas this week, diving deep into our 2025 strategy, fine-tuning processes, and—most importantly—enjoying some much-needed team bonding (with a few remote guests dialing in, probably still in their pajamas). From brainstorming sessions to BBQ feasts to basketball games, it’s safe to say we’re all fueled up and ready to make next year our best yet. ?? Guess what I'm up to based on this picture! Being a facilitator means keeping the audience engaged, thinking outside the box to bring things to life, and driving home key points. I’m prepping for two team-building sessions next week that are focused on team effectiveness, having a bubblegum mindset, and establishing team norms. One of my favorite things is giving participants a memento from the session. It is a tangible reminder of what they learned and helps them stay motivated to apply what they learned -- Especially during challenging moments. I find if it's out of sight, it's out of mind. As the year is close to coming to an end, it’s time to reflect on our journey and celebrate the milestones that have shaped our business with the End of Year Business Review and Awards ? Highlights: - Warm Welcome: The day started with introductions and a conference outline. Participants shared personal achievements and expectations, creating a sense of ownership for the day. - Business Review: Overviews of the company’s success and growth opportunities, aligning the team with the business direction. - Team Drill Activity: A fun rugby-themed exercise emphasised the importance of coordination and feedback. - LEGO Story: Fiona Wright shared how values helped LEGO recover and grow, highlighting the importance of lived values. -Values Discussion: The HiPo team identified key behaviours for success and recognised champions of these behaviours. - Preferences Activity: A movement-based activity brought Jung’s thinking on preferences to life, linking behaviours to values. - Decision Making: Gary Prout’s interactive story emphasised resilience and ethical decision making under pressure. Awards Evening Highlights: ??Driver of the Year: Tony Ballaam - For his dedication, mentorship, and heroic response during a medical emergency. ??Warehouse Operative of the Year: Alex Dixon - For his exceptional customer management, process adherence, and system expertise. ??Make a Difference: Rebecca Edwards - For her well-deserved promotion to Assistant Transport Manager after 5 years of dedication. ??Central Support Manager: Ricki Cowle - For re-energising his team and improving site presentations and interactions. ??Manager of the Year: Vanessa Howarth - For her exceptional leadership, support for business units, and contribution to the Senior Leadership team. ??Contract of the Year: Toolstation - For their collaborative partnership and successful delivery of significant change projects. ??Depot of the Year: Sharpness - For their cultural evolution and improved business performance. ??H&S Achievement Award: Birstall - For maintaining excellent compliance and safety standards.
