I am sharing my insights from 'The Goal,' a classic business book from 1984 that masquerades as a novel. It is still relevant today and beneficial for anyone who gets frustrated by things not moving quickly enough through a system.

Over the weekend I finished The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. I think I cried for about the last 25 pages. It is a great book and brings some topics to light (regret, perspective, suicide). One aspect of the story is the "Book of Regrets." Which is a tome that captures every regret (or perceived regret) from your life. I thought about some regrets from my life and whether or not I would change them. I'm not sure I would. Changing a regret would split my life off into a completely different direction and who knows what the outcome would be. (Now, if I could fix a regret but still end up here...that's a different story ??) Regretting a decision (should have studied computer science, should have bought that insurance, shouldn't have eaten that last hot dog) is natural, and learning from that decision is how we can grow. Maybe I didn't become a programmer but I have more tools at my disposal now than I did back in 2002 so it's certainly not too late to learn a new skill. How big would your Book of Regrets be?
