It's diabetes awareness month. We support our patients as best we can, which includes watching out for diabetes distress. Diabetes distress is the emotional strain tied to the daily challenges of managing diabetes, such as constant blood sugar monitoring, diet adherence, and fears of complications. This can lead to feelings of frustration, burnout, and a sense of helplessness. Coping strategies include finding support through a therapist or diabetes-focused community, setting manageable goals, and practicing self-compassion to reduce guilt over setbacks. It's important to voice concerns with your medical providers so that we can offer better support and fight diabetes together.

WE HAVE BEATEN DIABETES! Diabetes is a scourge of society that must be beaten to stay healthy to have a good life free from a dangerous but preventable condition that could cause many other health problems if not treated well. It is a genetic problem in our family too; my late father had it and my mother has it too and has been under medication for over 3 decades! My wife, brother and I had pre-diabetes briefly but we have beaten the health problem thus (according to my brother, who religiously stuck to it): 1. Before breakfast, drink 2 cups of warm or hot water. Wait for 30- 45 mins before consuming food. Carry on for a month & thereafter. 2. Exercise- walk or jog 20-30 mins 3 times a wk. With some static light body workout. 3. Eat fruits daily - apple, pear, papaya, banana, etc. Take meals as normal with less or no sugar or salt. 4.After doing the above, see if your blood glucose reading level goes below 7 mmol/L. Normal healthy range is between 4-7mmol/L. 5. Be mindful always to live a life without diabetes or a full life despite having the disease too! Simply put, we have to be mindful of what we eat and do in our lives to stave off the scourge of diabetes; a dreaded disease of modern day society! For further information: https://lnkd.in/gwtBfGXG

Living with Diabetes…. World Diabetes Day may have passed, but the challenges faced by those living with diabetes remain every single day. Diabetes is not just about managing sugar; it’s about navigating a life that requires constant attention, care, and resilience. It’s waking up to numbers that dictate your day, making tough food choices, and living with the mental weight of “doing enough.” ?? ?? Here are the daily struggles that often go unseen: ??♂?Constant tracking - Every meal, every step, every hour can feel like a calculation. ??♀?Social challenges: Saying no to a treat or explaining your choices—again and again. ??♂?The invisible costs: Managing diabetes isn’t just about willpower; it’s about affording care. ??♀?Worry about the future: The fear of complications looms constantly. But living with diabetes also means showing up, every single day. It’s about perseverance, self-discipline, and hope. ?? To everyone managing diabetes: You’re doing the best you can, and that’s enough. Every step toward self-care—whether it’s small or big—is a step toward a healthier you. ?? To those without diabetes: Support, don’t judge. Understand, don’t dismiss. Together, we can make the lives of people with diabetes a little easier. This post may be late for World Diabetes Day, but the fight against diabetes is ongoing. Let’s keep the conversation going—not just one day a year, but every single day. Because awareness doesn’t have a deadline, and compassion is never late. #DiabetesAwareness #PreventiveHealth #TogetherWeCan #lifestylediseases #wellnessjourney
