Fantastic interview highlighting the strength and resilience of women, especially as we celebrate Mother's Day weekend. Let's continue breaking barriers and pushing the glass ceiling higher! It's time to invest in grooming and empowering female leaders to take on executive positions and shape the future of our industries. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable world for all. #WomenEmpowerment #DiversityandInclusion #Leadership
Thanks to Jared Lindzon for the interview with the Star about my career. On this special day celebrating Mothers, its especially important to me as a Mom to give the next generations insights into leaders and their career experience so new pathways can be created to increase diversity at the helm of all industries. BTW, they got the experience at Vancity backwards, I was CEO of VCIB and not Vancity.
She runs Ontario’s largest credit union — and she wants to see more women at the top

This session was very beneficial at the youth summits event 2024 ! The session was called social action to your CV featuring LinkedIn. Here are a few things I learnt about making a linkedin profile : - Profile photo : Make it simple - get someone to take a photo rather than taking a selfie - summary top tips: What you’re interested in Any experience you have (everything is relevant) Ask for what you want Avoid: Jargon or impersonal language Overstating experience - The basics : High quality photo and banner image add a headline Add a short biography Add your experience Connect with your contacts Start following people you’re interested in Check your privacy settings - What to do with your LinkedIn account : Start building your network(who could you connect with) Comment and like other people’s posts Send direct messages with specific asks Share posts - What do I say ? Have you been to any events lately ? Any work experience or visit to an employer or university ? - Do’s: Use spacing and paragraphs Have a call to action Engage - try commenting Use(some)hashtags Share photos Tag people and companies - Don’ts : Use chathpt Forget to spellcheck Share huge chunks of text Be afraid to experiment
If ever I feel bad about the state of the world... I spend a day with some young people ?? I had the absolute privilege of leading a session on using LinkedIn for social impact at last week's Fair Education Alliance and Mission 44 Youth Summit, hosted by UBS. Their energy, enthusiasm and (lots of) questions were inspiring, and re-energised my love for the work we do. GoodWork also ran a CV clinic, facilitated by our wonderful volunteers. We had some brilliant feedback from those who came along - thank you to Emma, Camilla, Jolene and Kristina for spending the day with us and Zo? for steering the ship. In a fairly heavy week, I don't take for granted how lucky I am to have a job that so frequently reminds me to have faith in human nature. If you're in need of a similar reminder, come spend some time with us at GoodWork. We're have one volunteer opportunity open now (https://lnkd.in/e52HRyXa) and another opening very soon (https://lnkd.in/eMV6PARp). We'd love to have your support ??

She's very knowledgeable when it comes to what to do at the credit union. She is always happy to help the members, and do so with a smile. Among the activities we have engaged in, we can evaluate where we have made meaningful contributions. This doesn’t mean we need to seek superlative impacts or compare ourselves to others. Instead, we can focus on activities where our efforts have made a difference, even if only slightly more than others’ contributions. By reviewing our life, we can better understand areas where we’re more likely to find our calling and make concrete contributions. This self-evaluation helps us determine where our abilities align with our actions.

Each person experiences and understands their life, experiences, choices and the world from their own unique perspective. It is the common thread in peer support roles, yet there is a difference between the lived experience of family peers, youth peers, and adult peers.
