?? ADHD is over-diagnosed and over-treated. This myth is common online because more people are being diagnosed with ADHD. ?? The old DSM focused on hyperactivity, distractibility, and inability to focus. ?? The new DSM includes more criteria, helping us better understand ADHD. (It still doesn’t do a great job, but it’s getting better). We still miss many girls who aren’t hyperactive and smart individuals who know how to compensate for their symptoms. ?? It also overlooks those who work twice as hard to achieve half the results. ?? With a better understanding of ADHD and knowing that 70% of patients aren't hyperactive, we can more easily identify ADHD in individuals. Emotional Dysregulation, can at times, be one of the only impairing symptoms. When we know this, it helps us understand what else we want to be looking for. ?? Instead of the 3%-5% we previously thought, we now know that closer to 10% of the population has ADHD. This is thanks to the updated DSM, amazing doctors who have helped us understand better what to look for, and improved diagnostic criteria. Have ADHD or a child who has ADHD? Need support? Understanding ADHD is the first step in making an informed decision on taking your first step in your ADHD journey. ADHD can look different in different people - this is because there are various types of ADHD. Hyperactive and Impulsive type ADHD features symptoms like fidgeting, an inability to stay seated, incessant talking, and a tendency to act without thinking. The emphasis is more on hyperactivity and impulsivity rather than inattention. Inattentive type ADHD is characterised mainly by difficulties in sustaining attention, following through on tasks, and organising activities. People with this type of ADHD are often forgetful, easily distracted, and may overlook details. Combined type involves a combination of symptoms from both of the above types. People with Combined Presentation ADHD exhibit both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive behaviours. An ADHD 360 diagnosis followed by a ADHD 360 tailored treatment plan can not only help you understand your ADHD symptoms, but also get them as controlled as possible to help you live a fulfilled life. Do we really need ADHD Awareness Month? ? ? Is ADHD really that serious? ? YES! ? Because an ADHDers life expectancy is 9-13 years lower than someone without ADHD ?? ? That's worse than ?? intermittent smoking - 5 year reduction ?? breathing polluted air - 2.2 year reduction ?? drinking 25 beers a week - 5 year reduction ? ADHD is too often misinterpreted, minimised and trivialised - to the point where some people don't even think it exists at all. ? But in reality, ADHD is a very serious disability that requires a lot more accommodations in ADHDers day-to-day lives than people realise. ? Since ADHD is a disability that impairs an individuals executive functioning skills and emotional regulation, it means that ADHDers are more prone to ? accidents ? substance use ? intentionally hurting themself ? sedentary lifestyle ? high amounts of stress ...and the list goes on! ? Fortunately, ADHD is very treatable! ? And it has been proven that treating ADHD directly (whether that’s through medication, therapies or whatever else works for you!) significantly reduces the risks above, allowing you to live a healthy and happy life with ADHD. ? So that’s why we need ADHD Awareness Month - to continue raising awareness and understanding of this disability. ? Because undermining the impact of ADHD is extremely harmful, and makes it harder for people who are affected by it to get the help and treatment they need. ? The help and treatment which could literally save their life. ? Does this resonate with you? ? Learn more about ADHD Awareness Month here: https://lnkd.in/ePdxUiQJ ? This is a great article on how to study if you have ADHD, and I implement a lot of these tips with my own clients who have ADHD. A few additional key points: -Study in short bursts instead of trying to do everything at once. Setting a timer for 20-30 minutes at a time followed by breaks and rewarding yourself will be very beneficial -Don't try to learn everything at once. Having a complex study schedule can actually lead to students feeling discouraged and they will procrastinate as a result. It is much better to focus on just a few things each day -Don't be afraid to request accommodations. #LSAT #lawschool #LSAT2025

?? The Bonding Health Revolution: A New Approach to ADHD Management At Bonding Health, we're rethinking how ADHD is managed—one step at a time. Instead of trying to tackle ADHD as a whole, we focus on addressing specific, manageable problems that can lead to real improvements and greater control. ?? Why Focus on One Problem at a Time? Taking on ADHD as a whole can be overwhelming and lead to a sense of helplessness, which is a risk factor for depression. By focusing on one symptom or challenge at a time, we can help families experience small but meaningful wins. These wins create momentum, making progress feel achievable and empowering parents and children alike. ?? Breaking Down the Challenges Instead of feeling like you need to "fix everything," we encourage targeting specific times of day or tasks that are particularly disruptive. If mornings are a struggle, work on simplifying one part of the routine. This approach turns overwhelming challenges into manageable steps. ?? Reducing Learned Helplessness, Building Confidence Our goal is to help families overcome the feeling that nothing can be done. Small wins lead to bigger victories, reducing learned helplessness and boosting confidence along the way. Let's make ADHD management less daunting and more empowering. The Bonding Health Revolution is about giving families practical tools to thrive—not just cope.
