As the President of the All Kinnaur Students Association, I recently had the incredible opportunity to organize a major event with a total budget of ?10 lakh. This experience was not only a significant achievement for our association but also a profound learning journey for me personally. With more than 1,500 students in attendance, the event was a true testament to the power of community and effective management. Here are some key management skills I honed through this process: 1. Strategic Planning: The success of any event hinges on meticulous planning. From setting clear objectives to drafting a detailed timeline, every step required careful consideration. I learned the importance of anticipating challenges and creating contingency plans to ensure the event ran smoothly. 2. Budget Management: Handling a substantial budget of ?10 lakh taught me the critical skill of financial prudence. Allocating funds efficiently, negotiating with vendors for the best deals, and keeping track of expenditures were essential to staying within budget while maximizing the event's impact. 3. Team Coordination: The event's success was a testament to effective teamwork. Coordinating with various committees, delegating tasks, and fostering a collaborative environment helped us achieve our goals. I realized the value of clear communication and trust in building a motivated and cohesive team. 4. Stakeholder Engagement: Engaging with stakeholders—students, sponsors, and community members—was a vital aspect of the event. Building strong relationships and maintaining open lines of communication ensured that everyone's expectations were met and that we had robust support throughout the process. 5. Problem-Solving: No event is without its challenges. From last-minute changes to unexpected issues, the ability to think on my feet and devise quick solutions was crucial. This experience enhanced my problem-solving skills and taught me to remain calm under pressure. 6. Marketing and Promotion: Creating buzz and attracting participants required strategic marketing efforts. Leveraging social media, designing compelling promotional materials, and engaging with our audience helped us reach a wider audience and generate excitement for the event. 7. Reflection and Feedback: Post-event reflection and gathering feedback from attendees provided valuable insights into what worked well and what could be improved. This process is essential for continuous improvement and ensuring future events are even more successful. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the following guests who made this event a success: Chief guest - Sh. Jagat Singh Negi Hon’ble Revenue, Horticulture, Tribal Development & Redressal of Public Grievances Minister, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh Guests of honour - Mr. Hir Bhagat negi Principal commissioner central GST chd. And HP Er. B.S Negi Retd. Chief Engineer,HPSEB Former board member HPSEB, Former Director(Civil) HPPCL. And many other esteemed guests

Last Call for Applications! Full Scholarship Opportunity to this Year's Conference in Newport, RI: Announcing the NEAIR Endowed Leadership Team Annual Conference Scholarship! Dear NEAIR Community, The 2023-24 Leadership Team is proud to introduce a new initiative aimed at enhancing accessibility and inclusivity within our organization: the inaugural NEAIR Endowed Leadership Team Annual Conference Scholarship. This scholarship, which is funded by our endowment, underscores our commitment to supporting members who may face financial barriers in attending our conferences. Key Details: What:?The scholarship aims to fully cover conference attendance costs (up to $2,500) for three recipients. Why:?We believe conference attendance is pivotal for professional growth and networking, with considerable benefits for careers and personal development. This scholarship was formalized based on member feedback that funding the full conference costs was needed for attendance. Distinguishing Feature:?This scholarship is aimed specifically at members who would be unable to utilize funding that only partially covers travel costs. It is offered in addition to the Memorial Conference Grant, which defrays a significant portion of travel costs and will open in the coming weeks. Why It Matters:?We recognize that financial resources vary widely among institutions and for our members. This scholarship is designed to alleviate obstacles, covering expenses such as travel, accommodation, and even childcare and similar costs during the conference. By doing so, we aim to ensure that all members are able to benefit from the conference experience, regardless of financial position. The application window is open through Friday, August 16th at 11:59pm. We invite you to click the link below to learn more about logistics, considerations, and the application/evaluation process. We are deeply grateful to the visionary leaders who came before us, whose foresight and dedication in establishing the endowment have made this scholarship possible. Warm Regards, Melissa Hartz, President Steve Sheridan, President-Elect Alex Yin, Immediate Past President Laura Uerling, Treasurer Tiffany Parker, Secretary The NEAIR Endowed Leadership Team Annual Conference Scholarship: https://lnkd.in/e-_D-K76

A plan that played out perfectly for student involvement I set the tone during the first class - and that also was going to be the only moment possible. April 2024 marked the month I taught the class Event Management for the United International Business School in Amsterdam. As this was my first job with them presencial in Amsterdam I knew I only was getting one shot at making a first impression on the students. From my experience, students often like to be tucked away into the back of the classroom, not attracting too much attention. And that’s their right, obviously. However, as my teaching style includes a lot of interactivity, I would very much prefer active students, being seated on the first two rows in the front. I had to come up with a plan. Just before the first class commenced, I decided to try out something new. The classroom existed out of 4 rows of tables, with chairs lined up alongside. I knew that the total number of students would fit across the first two rows. As an experiment I turned all chairs on the third row around and snuggled them under the tables of the fourth row, trying to clearly show that those two rows weren’t being used. As the first students walked in, their automatic reaction was to grab a chair from below the table on the fourth row to be seated in the back. I friendly told them that the two rows in the back wouldn’t be used. All students ended up grabbing a chair on one of the first two rows, which remained ‘their spot’ for the entire course. After that first session I didn’t even have to mention it again, it just happened. The result? A lively, interactive atmosphere where every student was actively involved, right from the front row seats! This small experiment turned into our class norm, and the energy remained high throughout the course. By physically shaping the environment, we shaped our entire learning experience together. What is your #1 tip of creating more interactivity in a classroom? #EventManagement #TeachingInnovation #BusinessSchool #InteractiveLearning #FirstImpressions #Education #Amsterdam picture: Ronal Porras Ramírez
