Under the heading "No such thing as a dumb question" - is there an 'industry standard' for the amount of time to wait after applying for a vacancy, before reaching out to that company's HR and/or talent recruiter for an application status update? (Providing there is none on the application portal website). I don't want to be 'that person' who is a pest and thus ruins their chances at possible consideration, but at the same time it would be good to know what the latest and greatest is. Thanks in advance!

You may get lucky with your recruitment and find a perfect applicant who ticks all the boxes with the skills you require and attributes to fit in within your existing team. However, for many vacancies that’s not often the case.
