This interactive SDG Academy Nature-based Solutions for Disaster and Climate Resilience course is essential for all industry players. I view it as CSR redefined. Future thinking boardrooms and corporate debates should have eco-based as a must do agenda. Whether directly or indirectly, all industries relate with the Natural Capital which needs enhancement, protection or restoration. This is for the success of the SDG 2030 goals, and beyond. It can be done, if we all join hands.

Information on how to prepare for climate change and environmental disasters is unattainable for those most likely to suffer from its negative effects. With increasing awareness of the multitude of negative impacts facing these disadvantaged communities, I assisted in the development of innovative tools to address this gap. We adapted methods from the Bounce Back Generation nonprofit to increase emotional resilience within disadvantaged communities, by creating a curriculum to prepare said communities for climate change and environmental emergencies. Climate change is happening now, and disadvantaged communities are eager for ways to prepare. If you are interested in reading more about how to strengthen climate resilience within disadvantaged communities, feel free to read and share my research report. My hope is that those who read the scientific report will understand more about how to connect with disadvantaged communities, which is vital considering how climate change is currently negatively impacting these very communities.

?????? ???????????????????? ???????????????????? ??????????????????????. ?????? ???????? ???????? ???? ?????? ?? ????????????. Climate change isn't a distant threat—it's here, and our disengagement comes at a steep price. Rising seas and extreme weather are already causing damage to property and infrastructure in vulnerable cities like Miami. The devastation from events like Hurricane Ian shows what's at stake. The consequences of inaction are both financial and lethal. Property values plummet, real estate markets destabilize, and even basic necessities like drinking water are threatened. More critically, human lives are at risk from increasingly severe storms and floods. But there's hope. Through engaging projects like eco-art initiatives, we can spark curiosity and create personal connections with nature. When people participate in activities like planting mangroves or creating awareness through art installations, they develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues. This is the power of socially engaged art—it provokes inquiry and creates pathways for action. By tapping into creativity across all sectors, we can find innovative approaches to address climate change. The choice is clear: engage or face dire consequences. By using art as a universal language to connect with our communities, we can work together to build a more just, loving, and beautiful world—one that's resilient in the face of climate change. https://lnkd.in/gFhZPTyU

Our November theme is "Climate Misinformation and Disinformation". Misinformation and disinformation is the world's biggest short-term risk to human society (according to the World Economic Forum), and extreme weather events are the top long-term risk. ?? This month, we'll be hosting a range of talks on this topic, from legally tackling misinformation and disinformation to the techniques we can use to spot them. Plus, we'll learn about the world of a Climate Science Communicator at the Met Office in our Careers Talk. ?? If you're a civil or public servant, you can sign up to this month's free events on our website ?? https://lnkd.in/eb2G6cSB #ClimateChange #CivilService #Misinformation #Disinformation #Greenwashing #Events #Environment #Climate

Every summer, wildfires are top of mind for British Columbians. At Technical Safety BC, we’re thinking about how our province is impacted by the climate crisis year-round. Some of the most significant risks to our safety system are emerging from climate change. In fact, every technology we regulate is being impacted by the climate crisis. Here’s what we’re doing to make the safety system more resilient to climate emergencies: ? Preventing damage to equipment before a disaster. ? Supporting people and communities after a climate catastrophe. ? Supporting electrification of buildings and transportation systems. ? Identifying climate change as a factor in incidents and measuring the number of technical safety risks that are caused or made worse by climate change. ? Expanding our outreach to develop relationships in communities disproportionately affected by technical risks and negative impacts of climate change. ? Reducing our own energy and greenhouse gas emissions. Read more about our climate action plan: https://hubs.li/Q02KszH_0

What's the best way to solve difficult problems? This week, Florida's Governor DeSantis signed legislation that removes climate change from energy priorities and scrubs the term from state statutes and websites. ?? While this may resonate with certain constituencies, it's crucial to remember that clear and honest communication is key to addressing the climate crisis. ?? Florida faces rising sea levels, extreme heat, and increasingly severe storms ???? Ignoring the problem won't make it go away—let's prioritize transparency and science-based solutions to secure a sustainable future. #ScienceBasedSolutions #ClimateCrisis #EnvironmentalLeadership

2023 set a new record as the hottest year to date, with 2024 projected to surpass it. Local communities are bearing the brunt of these impacts and of extreme heat, wildfires, flooding, drought and more.?? ? And they are leaders in leveraging the countless assets of local communities to adapt and build resilience to the changing climate - while mitigating the causes to reduce future impacts. ?? ? Building off three years of learnings from Climate Transitions Cohort communities (and from more than two decades of learnings from local collaboratives focused on other community-defined outcomes), we at Tamarack Institute for Community Engagement are thrilled to invite participation in our?Adaptive and Resilient Communities Cohort in 2025. This is a practical, action-focused opportunity for local communities to name, diagnose and organize around the barriers that have been hindering local adaptation and resilience actions and implement tangible projects through a whole-community approach.
