What a wonderful weekend in Williamsburg helping Leadership Metro Richmond kick off another year of Quest! The Richmond Region's leaders were in force and they came ready to connect, share, listen, and learn. Personally, I loved finally being there early enough on Friday to experience Ashley Williams’s extraordinary approach to facilitating groups to a place of readiness for connection, reflection and understanding. And on Saturday, I got to experience Dr. Julian Hayter's dynamic presentation on the history of Richmond for the second time. He and his work are profound! And I'm really glad we got to introduce a new element to our SEEQ Experience at LMR. Using the SEEQ Platform, participants were able to share stories of belonging in the room and on the platform on Friday. And on Saturday, I presented topline findings from the stories for the group as a whole: themes, emotions and implications for this group of leaders — and used the insights to craft a working definition of belonging from a regional perspective, through the experiences of these leaders. Even more, we were able to connect their stories and insights to the questions and issues raised from the Richmond history discussion just prior, culminating in a set of considerations: what we might need to learn and what we might need to change if we want to to enable a deeper sense of belonging (together) throughout the Region, that actually results in people thriving. This is the SEEQ Platform and process at work, in real time. Helping to uncover themes and commonalities from people's diverse experiences, and developing actionable insights so leaders can lead more effectively. This was actually part of Andy Sitison's original vision for the SEEQ Platform back in 2019 — that it would be a real-time companion to the in-person SEEQ Session we had just launched that year. So much has changed, and yet the vision remains the same! And while I love the fact that the SEEQ Platform nows enables our clients to connect with hundreds and thousands of participants to explore experiences together, I also love the moment when a group gets quiet and everyone starts writing, like they do in the in-person SEEQ Sessions. And for smaller groups, like SEEQ at LMR, it's quite unlike anything else... being able to witness a group of people sharing their personal stories with such truth and power, and being able to draw deeper meaning out of those stories the way we do with SEEQ, it's amazing. This has been one of my most rewarding weeks at Armanino spending a few days in our beautiful #Chicago office with Mary Pitino, SPHR, SHRM- SCP and Jeanine McCallum. Given we are spread out across the country we don’t get together very often but each time we do our commitment to each other and our people gets stronger. For two days, we closed our laptops to spend meaningful time together: ?? Reflecting on our accomplishments over the last 10 months since we came together as a team. ???Giving each other feedback to learn how we grow individually and as a team. ?? Getting real and talking about what hasn’t been working as a team that we need to adjust or eliminate. ??Brainstorming how we will add new value to People Relations and our internal clients in 2025 and building a plan one quarter at a time. And, as they say, it’s teamwork that makes the dream work!
