Space - the final frontier. The decisions we make around #space and gender matters. Who goes to space? Who negotiates key policy and space agreements? Who gets funding and investment? Who determines how we use space for resources? The roots of the old space sector lie within the government and the military, which meant the culture remained somewhat traditional: often male-dominated and highly technical. Over the last ten years though, increased commercialisation and funding has paved the way for #newspace companies, with a new entrepreneurial ethos; agile, innovative and inherently disruptive. And #women are instrumental in this #newspaceeconomy: ceo founders, astronauts, engineers, scientists, mission commanders from both established and emerging space nations. Women's #leadership is no longer just an aspiration but a reality in the space sector. Our need to innovate at pace and think creatively about new space endeavours to achieve cosmic returns - necessitates that women have equal representation in this sphere.
