Busted: All nurses are the same! Nothing could be further from the truth with this myth. There are many different specializations of nurses, each with their own area of expertise! Nurses can work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, and even patients' homes. Their responsibilities can range from providing basic care to making critical decisions about a patient's treatment. Nurses play a vital role in the healthcare system, and the type of nurse you become will depend on your interests and experience. Here are a few of the many different specializations of nurses: Registered Nurses (RNs): These are the most common type of nurse, and they provide a wide range of care to patients. RNs can work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, and patients' homes. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs): LPNs provide basic care to patients, such as taking vital signs, changing dressings, and helping patients with daily activities. They typically work under the supervision of RNs or doctors. Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs): APNs have a master's degree in nursing and can provide a wider range of care than RNs or LPNs. Some APNs can even prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests. . ?????????? ???????? ???? https://lnkd.in/dGhJtfEx . . #ieltsmedicaluk #uk #Midwives #MedicalProfessionals #HealthcareTraining #UKHealthcare #NurseEducation #MedicalTraining #IELTSExam #OETExam

https://lnkd.in/e2kMAAtm As a travel nurse I worked in critical care at a variety of hospitals ranging in size from small community hospitals to Level 1 trauma centers. At every hospital some units had great nurse managers while others didn't. In some units nurses never call out or quit whereas in others it's an everyday occurrence. CNOs know what units have problems; they know who their underperforming nurse managers are. Most nurses who quit are not given an exit interview, which means bad nurse managers continue costing hospitals their most valuable asset: nurses.

In a recent national study, 68% of nurse reported feeling "hopeless" about the future of Nursing. Additionally, 900K nurses are projected to leave the workforce by 2030 and 31% of nurse are older than 55, leaving 40% of nurses with 10 years of experience. The knowledge to complexity gap is widening and the chasm between knowledge and illness is concerning for the healthcare of tomorrow. How is your organization positioning for this dramatic shift in healthcare? #healthcare #nursing

As a new nurse looking for positions, its been surprisingly hard to get through the door at most major hospitals. The reason being the lack preceptors for new nurses and extensive programs for new nurses to be onboarded. It's interesting. We graduate from nursing programs with 600+ clinical hours and as a new nurse are then expected to precept again as a "residency nurse" for up to two years in some cases. In one department I applied for, there were 3 open positions for 20 applications in an already understaffed unit. Even though there were lots of positions posted and open none of them were for new nurses. Nursing is in such a vicious cycle, understaffing, no preceptors, underpaid overworked nurses who then have to "teach" incoming new nurses. The solution isn't this continual cycle, at some point there needs to be a shift in thinking. How do we effectively onboard new nurses that supports the understaffed model that also supports nurses who are already overworked and underpaid? I am not saying this all as a complaint. I am fiercely committed to mentoring and supporting new nurses especially BIPOC nurses. in 2022, the American Assocation of Colleges of Nursing reported that the field is 80% white (https://lnkd.in/gEbAZHPR). Diversification is not just important because these numbers don't accurately reflect our population, but also because of health equity. We need more mentorship, preceptors, and open doors for students and nurses of color!
