In this week's School of Visual Arts Spatial Computing class, we had the pleasure of hosting Nick Kaufmann from inCitu in the SVA MFA Interaction studio! For those unfamiliar, InCitu is an incredible augmented reality tool designed to revolutionize public engagement. It enables communities to visualize potential volumes and buildings in their environments—empowering them to understand, participate in, and get excited about what’s coming to their public spaces. Nick walked us through the company’s history and even led a hands-on workshop! We crafted clay sculptures of buildings, scanned them, learned some Blender tricks, and imported them into the InCitu platform—a fun and interactive way to explore AR workflows. ???? This session highlighted the power of tools like InCitu to make complex planning concepts accessible to non-industry audiences. It's a game-changer for fostering community collaboration! Think of it as a virtual audio endpoint, delivering consistent sound quality across every OS/platform and supporting an almost unlimited number of high-quality audio objects. ??? ?????? ???????????????? I'm excited to announce my latest project: Hand Gesture Controlled Image Zoom! ?? This project lets you zoom in and out of images using just your hand gestures - no buttons, no complicated controls. Using computer vision and hand tracking technology, the system detects your hand movements in real time and adjusts the image zoom accordingly. It's that easy! Think about the possibilities: effortlessly zooming into photos during presentations, zooming in on important details during online learning, or just having fun with interactive image viewing. This project adds a whole new layer of engagement to visual content.
