I was recently interviewed about a bill I passed with support from Gov. Wes Moore to transform our public pensions by enhancing diversity within the asset management industry. This bill establishes a Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within the State Retirement and Pension System, acknowledging the critical need for a workforce that mirrors our diverse society. Research consistently shows that diverse asset management teams not only mirror societal diversity but also yield superior investment returns for our retirees.
