Xiaomi Joining the Rank of EV Manufactures My last post was possibly an April Fool’s joke on Apple buying BMW. I will be very sad for both companies if it happens as I don’t see any possible synergy from such a merger. Well here Xiaomi has done it on their own.. no merger, no buyout. They started with mobile phones. Then they extended into all kinds of home appliances to build up an “ecosystem”. Apple’s ecosystem comprises iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Homepod. In comparison, Xiaomi’s ecosystem comprises mobile phone, TV (which Apple was rumored to mull over), soundbar, Wifi router, air conditioner, ceiling light, vacuum bot, water purifier, coffee maker and the list goes on and on. Now they added a car, an EV! You can seemlessly integrate your Xiaomi phone interface onto the 16” infotainment screen. You can now call out to your Xiaomi virtual assistant (“Xiao Ai”) to switch on the EV headlight or lower down the EV windows before you head out of your home. Which car comes ready with mounting points for GoPro cameras? A non-Apple smartphone maker turned EV maker making it possible and easy to use iPads for the rear passengers!
