"Our approach is deeply informed by curiosity and a love of tinkering, of drawing, of discourse and of exploration. Our methods and capabilities are at the leading edge of design, analysis, manufacturing, and construction, but we strive to produce spaces and experiences that are unexpected, hyper-useful, intelligent, and full of delight." The best architectural solutions don't just work, they're beautiful. Richard Buckminster Fuller, an American architect, systems theorist, and futurist, emphasized the inherent connection between beauty and effective design. Known for his geodesic domes and Dymaxion designs, Fuller believed that a successful solution must possess an inherent elegance and simplicity. His approach to design focused on efficiency, sustainability, and harmony with nature. For Fuller, beauty was a natural outcome of a well-resolved problem, demonstrating that aesthetic appeal and functional success are intrinsically linked. From Architecture Lab.

Buildings are not just structures; they are reflections of thought, philosophy, and human experience. Every line drawn, every material chosen, and every space created is shaped by a deeper understanding of how we live, think, and interact with the world around us. Think about it: when we design, are we not creating physical manifestations of our values and beliefs? As architects, we are sculptors of space, but we are also curators of experience. Each space we design influences how people feel, move, and connect. The same way philosophy challenges us to question reality, architecture challenges us to reimagine the way we inhabit it. - Where do design and philosophy intersect for you? - What architectural elements inspire deep thought and connection? - How can we create spaces that encourage reflection, creativity, and change? Let’s start a dialogue. Share your thoughts below!

I am Kobe Lorenzo Lamento, a dynamic and multifaceted individual with passions and goals that set me apart. With an insatiable curiosity for the intricate and the complex, I am especially drawn to the field of architecture. My fascination lies not just in the aesthetic and structural elements of buildings, but in how advanced technologies, such as parametric design, can revolutionize the way we live and interact with our environments. I envision a future where innovative architectural practices enhance the quality of life, blending functionality with cutting-edge design. Here's a sample of my previous works

?? I have always enjoyed collaborating with architects and this recent re-brand for AAVA Architects was no exception. ?? Graphic design and architecture often share a common philosophical language - both disciplines are inspired by art, materials and nature. They both care deeply about composition, context, ideas and at their hearts lies a shared purpose: designing and building better ways for humans to live and experience the world. My process has always been about finding the balance between the two disciplines, allowing them to coexist without one overpowering the other. With AAVA, I aimed to create a brand framework that puts the practice’s projects first while still preserving a brand with character. In moments like these, I often look to find inspiration in two of my favourite quotes – one from the world of architecture and one from the world of design “God is in the details” – Mies Van Der Rohe “Design is so simple, that's why it is so complicated” – Paul Rand I’ll leave it there for now ; ) www.aava.org.uk

?The Canadian National Housing Strategy Act is a sign of change, and nowhere is this more evident than in the growing trend of adaptive reuse projects. These projects involve repurposing existing structures for new uses and blending the old with the new. In a recent Architizer article, Architectural Drawings: 7 Ingenious Examples of Adaptive Reuse in Section, author Eric Baldwin states: “The best illustrations tell powerful stories of how we experience design. In section drawings, architects can understand how light, structure, and scale shape how people move through rooms and gather. Today, adaptive reuse projects are rising as the understanding of embodied energy grows. The following projects showcase section drawings of adaptive reuse projects at various scales. Together, they represent a dialogue between history and innovation.” The article Link is in the comments below.

An architectural contour model is a powerful tool that breathes life into the landscape, translating the undulating beauty of nature into tangible form. Each contour layer rises gracefully, revealing the dynamic interaction between land and structure, offering architects a canvas where creativity meets the environment. The gentle flow of contours captures the essence of movement within a still form, inspiring designs that harmonize with the earth's natural rhythms. This model not only guides the architectural process but also ignites the imagination, suggesting innovative solutions that embrace the terrain’s unique character.

Publication day! My new book, Model Britain, is released today. Drawing from the evidence of more than 120 architectural models made by Thorp, Britain's oldest and most prolific firm of modelmakers, Model Britain outlines a history of how 20th century architects, planners, and civil engineers thought about the future, as captured by the architectural models of the time. Two years hard work went into this and I'm delighted that it is now out in the world for people to read. If you like architectural models and 20th century British architecture, this is the book for you. What were the ideas behind the models of Sea City, Motopia, the North and Western Motor Way, and countless other miniature visions of the future? Find out in this major new study! Model Britain is available to order from your local bookshop, Amazon https://shorturl.at/pH124, or direct from the publisher with free P&P: https://shorturl.at/o0bJa
