The Remote Jobs and Economic Development Program is a key initiative by the Australian Government, aimed at fostering job creation and economic growth in remote communities. With a $707 million investment over three years, the RJED Program seeks to fund 3,000 new jobs in remote regions, supporting job seekers through employment services such as the Remote Employment Services (RES), the New Jobs Program Trial (NJPT), or the Community Development Program (CDP) Trials. #remotejobs #indigeniouscommunities #economicdevelopment

Consultations on the design of a new Remote Jobs and Economic Development Program (RJED) will be held in the Community Development Program (CDP) Region 52 (Western Tablelands) until 30 June 2024. The government is interested in hearing from you regarding broader community aspirations, opportunities for youth, economic development, and how RJED could be designed to contribute to better community outcomes. Please note that RJED is being developed in partnership with First Nations people, but non-Indigenous people are also eligible. The government is committed to ensuring that all community members have a voice in the RJED consultation. He will be more than happy to arrange a time to meet and discuss your thoughts. Alternatively, a Survey is available on the RJED Consultations website, where you can leave feedback on the program. Background information on RJED On 13 February 2024, the Prime Minister announced $707 million to deliver the new Remote Jobs and Economic Development (RJED) program as a part of the Commonwealth’s Closing the Gap Implementation Plan 2024. It will start in the second half of 2024 and create 3000 jobs over three years within current CDP regions. The program will: ? create local, paid jobs with good conditions ? let communities decide what jobs are created ? be developed in partnership with First Nations peoples RJED is about real jobs, not employment services. Remote employment services are still available through the CDP while RJED is scaled up and a new remote employment service is developed.
