It is great to see the FIA bringing this event to Portsmouth. It provides a fantastic opportunity to network and talk through some key issues that are challenging the built environment, especially those of lithium ion batteries and building safety cases. With regard to the requirement for a safety case, it is vitally important that they are focused, proportionate and relevant, and it is this topic that I have been asked to present on Wednesday. In recognising that this requirement is new to higher risk buildings, we must ensure that we do not repeat the mistakes of other industries and I would encourage anyone charged with producing a safety case to read the following report regarding the loss of Nimrod XV230 (a failure of leadership, culture and priorities): https://lnkd.in/dTi9RjHC Of particular relevance is Part 3: The Nimrod Safety Case. If you are at the FIA Fim Expo on Wednesday and would like to catch up, please let me know. Fire Industry Association #fimExpo #fireindustry #firesafety
