The more national and local buildings and monuments lit up, the further the global impact for awareness. ????Request orange lights for EDS and HSD awareness, or go red for vascular EDS (vEDS) awareness for #REDS4VEDS Day! ???Many different venues can be lit up for awareness, from malls and shopping centers to statues, monuments, town halls, and schools. There is often limited availability, so reach out to your chosen venue as early as possible to secure a date. Creating Inclusive Communities at St. Davids City Hall At West Wales Care & Repair, a subsidiary of ateb Group, we believe accessibility is essential for creating inclusive spaces. In partnership with St. Davids City Council, we recently completed the installation of a new access ramp at the City Hall’s Community Zone, ensuring everyone can fully engage in community life. This project, led by Mike and Louis, demonstrates the power of collaboration and shared goals. Simon Mann, Clerk of St. Davids City Council, noted the significant impact this improvement has had, particularly during community events. “We are thrilled with the new ramp which has made a real improvement to our accessibility at the rear of the hall. It’s been really noticeable when we hold coffee mornings how much of a difference it’s made, especially for those that use frames or walking aids.” commented Simon. West Wales Care & Repair’s mission goes beyond building—it’s about Improving Homes, Changing Lives. As part of the ateb Group, we’re proud to make a real difference in communities, one step at a time. If you know someone who would benefit from improved accessibility or would like to find out more about West Wales Care & Repair please visit our website. https://lnkd.in/ekQMSg9M #AccessibilityInBusiness #InclusiveCommunities #CollaborativeEfforts #ImprovingHomesChangingLives #BusinessWithPurpose

When #TheJoshieMan meets the Lord Mayor of London today, does he need to look smart? ?? The Lord Mayor of London’s office was instituted in 1189, and Michael Mainelli is the 695th Lord Mayor. In a historic first, he is also the first to meet #TJM ?? We are truly honoured by the strong support Michael has shown on #Neurodiversity. Today we’ll be talking about: ?? Our consultation report on how to make London the #NeuroInclusive capital of the world which we are releasing in the next couple of days! ??The great progress that the City of London is making on installing Communication Boards in its public buildings, parks and schools (link in comments). ??The need for governments to be funding Assistive and Augmentive Communication (AAC) devices to support #NonSpeakers. #TJM will give a live demo on their importance to Michael. So, yes, today will be a historic Monday (for us at least) and we will do our best to keep advancing the cause of #NeuroInclusionNow. Who is with us? ??PS: What do think the Lord Mayor needs to hear about ND? Or what do you think of how TJM looks for his big meeting?!

Very pleased to have spoken for?Westminster Forum Projects last week on next steps for High Streets and Towns with lessons from Historic England's Heritage Action Zones and High Street Heritage Actions Zones programmes and the combined DCMS Arms' Length Bodies Levelling Up Places Service. Grateful to all speakers for putting heritage in the spotlight as a vital asset that towns should be looking to invest in and for support of our lessons learned about: ·??????moving work with communities from 'engagement' to participation to leadership,? ·??????the need for lead in time for major capital spending and the opportunities for other meaningful activity in that time to build participation and partnership and to get the long-term plan in place,? ·??????the importance of a mixed portfolio of investments (large and small) to achieve area wide benefits and allow flexibility, and? ·??????the opportunities for heritage to provide homes, spaces for business and opportunities for communities to come together and create. Fitting a lot in to 15 minutes and appreciated thoughtful Q&A for which answers:? ·??????historic buildings aren’t inherently fuel inefficient and they can be made more efficient using means that protect their value, whilst avoiding damp – we enable pragmatic conservation (not dogmatic preservation); ·?????evaluating long term investment projects requires thoughtful data collection at the outset including qualitative perception studies, but also requires reconsidering your KPIs as time and policies pass (what benefits did you deliver that didn't expect?); ·?????there is great opportunity for adult skills training in heritage investment programmes. Great Yarmouth Preservation Trust's brilliant model of participation and learning is one for many to learn from. and these are skills in maintaining and bringing buildings back into use that are needed across the country in great numbers. Great to have 3 BNZBA members as panelists today discussing the important topic of urban regeneration. Our thanks to?Richard Mclellan MRICS Gosha (Malgorzata) Haley and Lucy Tukua?for providing attendees with their insights and experience from projects such as CRL in Auckland and the 2012 Olympic Games and the Elizabeth Line in London. Lots of good discussion including the need to be smarter about how we undertake infrastructure projects, having a vision that the community buys into and especially how we communicate the long term benefits. Thanks also to Ben van Bruggen for facilitating?and to our hosts Edward Dunphy and Adeline O'Connor of Anthony Harper whose offices provided the perfect setting for the event.?

Did you know we have U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) representation across all 6 Boards in the Eastern Region, including Baltimore, Boston, Newark, New York City, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia? HUDs presence on our Boards plays a crucial role in fostering federal partnerships, which was highlighted during last month’s FEB Eastern Region “Fostering Friday” session featuring RA Juana B. Matias During these presentations, we invite federal leaders to share their agency’s mission and objectives with our team, helping us to identify key issues and build awareness for more effective collaboration. The FEBs consistently strive to create opportunities to discover how we can most successfully support the federal agencies we partner with. Thank you again, RA Juana Matias, for discussing HUD’s essential work with us. As RA Matias emphasized during her presentation, “we really cannot do this work alone… these kinds of partnerships are essential to us reaching our customers and getting communities connected with our resources.” We look forward to working with HUD on future initiatives and applying our enhanced understanding of their mission and objectives to help them achieve their goals. Previous Fostering Fridays have featured conversations with U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Region 2 - New York, HHS's FDA - Office of Regulatory Affairs, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Protective Service Region 3 - Mid-Atlantic Southern District #FEBSouth #FEBEast #FEBWest #FEBCentral #FEB #FederalGovernment ?

Related Bristol, a proposed $2.9 billion mixed-use development in south Santa Ana, was featured today at the Orange County Forum’s luncheon as part of the new series: "Transforming OC.” More than 150 county leaders and stakeholders attended and listened to a panel discussion about the development’s unprecedented?$500M package of economic and community benefits for the city and the region. Related Bristol will deliver up to 3,750 residential units, 350,000 SF of retail, 200 units of senior housing, and a hotel on South Bristol Street across from South Coast Plaza. The planned urban village will replace an existing 50-year-old shopping center on 41 acres between Sunflower Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard. As discussed by presenters and panelists, the project is likely to become a model of future growth in Orange County, where historically low vacancy rates and the soaring cost to buy a?home?has created a severe housing shortage in one of the nation’s most desirable places to live in. Today's panelists included moderator Vikki Vargas, former veteran TV news reporter; Richard Green, Director and Chair, USC Lusk Center for Real Estate; Gino A. Canori, President, Related California; and William Witte, Chairman/CEO, Related California. The OC Forum is the premier nonpartisan current affairs organization convening Orange County leaders to discuss key issues.

Attending the Downtown Sacramento Partnership conference at the Safe Credit Union Convention Center. In short, the pandemic has severely decreased the number of people working in downtown Sac by almost half. Instead of working 5 days a week, most people are working downtown twice a week. It means that commerce downtown is suffering right now, and unless there is a dynamic shift toward creating multi-use spaces, Sac will continue to decline. The new focus will be on: Housing, the Arts, academic research, open spaces, clean and safe venues and neighborhoods. This is an all hands on deck moment for the city of Sacramento.
