Take up the space you deserve to take! - a piece of advice Bethany Gibbs gave. I was privileged to attend an event hosted by Ada, the National College for Digital Skills, and to hear from panelists and apprentices from HSBC, PwC, Lloyds and some other companies. The event was based on Women in Tech; talking about discussions on how women in tech are gradually increasing, how women face imposter syndrome in their workspace, how to overcome imposter syndrome (I guess not completely), how to break into tech (even if you don’t have a tech degree), and some peices of advice. There were three sections, with 15 minutes networking sessions into each. Those sections were about breaking into tech, Imposter Syndrome and What now and What’s next? The panelists in each sections spoke about how they broke into tech, how they have faced imposter syndrome and what’s next in their career. Some main points I took out from the events were; * What makes you different makes you special. * Don’t shy away from networking and talking. Asking questions is necessary (no one knows it all, everyone is a learner). *Even though the tech sector can be a male dominated field, you still have a say as a woman and you will be listened to (you should be listened to!). Your voice matters and YOU matter. I definitely took a lot from the event, as it was also nice meeting with Zayba Ahmed, Ruth Chanarin and Charmaine George. One important thing Charmaine George said was that, Believe in your self. She also noted where it was important to speak positive words on yourself. Find your source of confidence and keep it with you. Ruth Chanarin spoke about developing skills that might not yet be important now, but will be important in the future(transferable skills). She also spoke about how being an introvert, you can push yourself and challenge yourself to suitatuons. Always developing yourself, and being able to talk about what you learnt or what you’re learning to people will speak for you. Whatever you learn and speak about is enough for you to bring something to the table. Zayba Ahmed also said something important; JUST DO IT. Know your weaknesses and your strengths, and work on your weaknesses. Everyone is a learner, no one knows it all!

Early in our company launch phases we received crucial guidance that while we could build the most exceptional new IMU/Motion-Control technology the Assistive Tech world had seen -? and we strive to do just that -? our technology would only make an impact if we were able to suitably equip Therapists and provide useful tutorials to enable Users to use it effectively.? Rather than waiting to be able to formally hire teams of trainers and content creators, we developed a two-pronged strategy to leverage some of the brightest minds we could find by: 1) engaging enthusiastic Interns to investigate uses and needs for tutorials, and 2) developing a platform through which engaged participants - our Interns, Therapist partners and Users - could share their knowledge and guidance as “Cato Community Contributors.”?? This earliest phase of our best practices, lifehacks, and integration tutorials are being posted to our YouTube Channel - https://lnkd.in/gVc_mBTv - so please Subscribe to see new content as we post!? And please view the Descriptions there for detail on objectives and content.? You can expect to see more and more AI/Avatar-generated content from the synthesia.io platform, as below.?? Without further ado, we are excited today to introduce and welcome Intern and AT Expert Brooklynn Watson to the platform!? At our first meeting with the OT/AT Team at Oakland Unified School District (OUSD), Brooklynn attended as their AT Intern, intent on supporting her friends in the Young Adults Program at OUSD.? As we spent time with Brooklynn, it became clear that her skills with Apple Accessibility and other AT tools were exceptional - and we needed to provide the path for her to share her expertise with the world!?? But please watch Brooklynn and Alizee tell the story - and stay tuned as we post more content from Brooklynn and other Cato Community Contributors soon. https://lnkd.in/dxwc5ids #ATIA #RESNA #AssistiveTech #AIforAT

Embracing Connection: My Journey to Engage with a Community of Shared Values and Insights Embarking on my journey to the public medium has been a transformative experience, driven by a deep-seated desire to engage with a community that shares common values and insights. From the outset, I felt compelled to contribute my voice to the broader conversation, drawn by the prospect of connecting with like-minded individuals and fostering meaningful dialogue. As I navigated this new terrain, I quickly realized the immense potential of the public medium as a platform for exchange and collaboration. Whether through social media channels, online forums, or virtual communities, I found myself immersed in a rich tapestry of perspectives, ideas, and experiences. Each interaction, each exchange of thoughts, served as a catalyst for growth and learning. What resonated most profoundly with me was the sense of camaraderie and solidarity that permeated these digital spaces. Here, I encountered individuals who not only shared my passions and interests but also challenged me to expand my horizons and reconsider my preconceptions. It was within this dynamic ecosystem of knowledge-sharing and mutual support that I felt most at home. But beyond the personal enrichment it offered, my journey to the public medium was also driven by a broader sense of purpose. I recognized the potential of these platforms to effect positive change, to amplify marginalized voices, and to spark meaningful conversations around pressing societal issues. In this regard, my engagement with the community was not merely an exercise in self-expression but a conscious effort to contribute to a larger collective endeavor. As I continue to traverse this path, I remain deeply committed to fostering connections, sharing insights, and championing values that resonate with me. Each interaction, no matter how small, represents an opportunity to forge new bonds, challenge assumptions, and make a positive impact on the world around me. In essence, my journey to the public medium is a testament to the power of community, collaboration, and collective action. It is a journey fueled by curiosity, driven by passion, and guided by a steadfast commitment to learning and growth. And as I navigate the ever-evolving landscape of the digital age, I do so with a profound sense of gratitude for the vibrant and diverse community that continues to inspire and empower me.

Idea exchange?is the engine behind a network that fosters collaboration, innovation, and resilience. When we intentionally and regularly expose ourselves to the ideas of people from different backgrounds, we are better equipped to solve problems in our own work and collaboratively. https://lnkd.in/eid8bdpS

Let's talk about something that's super important: HUMAN SOLIDARITY ?? It's basically about everyone in a industry feeling like they're in it together, supporting each other and working towards the same goal ?? Think about it: building software is complex. It involves lots of different skills, constant communication, and often dealing with unexpected roadblocks. ?? This isn't just a "tech thing," though. Whether you're in marketing, finance, or any other field that involves teamwork, human solidarity makes a huge difference. When people feel valued and respected, they're more engaged, creative, and dedicated ?? So, let's all try to build stronger connections with us where everyone feels like they belong and can thrive. p.s---It's a win-win for both us ?? What’s an example of solidarity you’ve seen? ?? Comment below ??
