Tell me Liquid Death is stealing all your market share without telling me that Liquid Death is stealing all your market share... smartwater now available in cans. Two thoughts... 1. If I was Mike Cessario, I'd be very happy about this news. (Well, assuming it's real... see below.) Not because it looks like the competition is running scared (although, let's be honest, that can be fun too), but because if the goal of introducing water in aluminum cans was to help reduce plastic usage in an effort to save the planet, then the result of Liquid's Death's considerable efforts (and subsequent success) is that a major water producer has just been "encouraged" to follow suit. HUGE win for the planet. 2. I discovered this image via a LinkedIn post today and, to be honest, wasn't sure if this was an April Fool's Day prank or not. So I did a search to confirm and found a press release on The Coca-Cola Company's website (https://lnkd.in/gRMnT2s4)... but the release is dated April 1st. If it's a prank... good one, folks, you got me! If it's not... perhaps it's not the best idea to announce a significant product or packaging innovation on April Fool's Day? #beverage #water #competition

?? We’re asking for information on the chemicals 6PPD and 6PPD-quinone. 6PPD has been used in tires for over 60 years and transforms into 6PPD-quinone when exposed to ozone. This can be toxic to aquatic species when stormwater carries it from roadways to waterways. We’re interested in information on the chemicals, including environmental and human health effects and information on releases from consumer products such as sneakers, playgrounds, rubber-modified asphalt, reused tire or other rubber products. We're also seeking information about 6PPD alternatives, as well as potential chemical transformation products associated with potential alternatives. Learn more ?? https://spgv.io/6040BR8

Is Safe Water Now Unaffordable? Darcy Villere and I are back in the studio this week and tackle water affordability. With the USEPA finalizing the PFOS Maximum Contaminant Level at 4 PPT (Parts per trillion), California setting the Hexavalent Chromium 6) level at 10 PPB (Parts per billion), lead service line replacement costs, lower Arsenic standards coming, revised Lithium standards on the horizon, and microplastics regulations looming, how will Californians and Americans afford safe drinking water? I share the impacts of the costs of these treatment options including capital investments, operations, and disposal and what that might look like on your monthly water bill; let’s just say it’s not pretty. We discuss possibilities on other ways to cover costs, including some crazy tourism tax ideas, and hope you, our listeners, might have some answers. Join the conversation! https://lnkd.in/gmQcs3eR

Why the Right to Clean Water is needed (by Mary Kay Robbins-Kralapp) https://lnkd.in/eZ9fUv-X Recently, Calusa Waterkeeper Codty Pierce released an editorial about the plight of the Manual’s Branch in downtown Fort Myers. The Calusa Waterkeeper organization has been testing the waters of this creek for several years. And, although the city of Fort Myers is four years into a consent decree to clean the waters in its jurisdiction, the Fecal Bacteria present (FIB) at Manual’s Branch is consistently extreme — i.e. it far exceeds allowed amounts based on the EPA standards and represents a health hazard. Kids and adults alike continue to play, fish and swim in and around these unsafe waters. With all this FIB present, I cannot help but wonder, if FIB is present, isn’t it likely that there is a lot of other negative “junk” present as well? The answer is most probable. While the Calusa Waterkeeper attempts to address the concerns regarding FIB with state and local officials, the question remains, how does this happen and why isn’t this fixed? I mean, people/officials have known about this problem for years! The answer is because polluters are allowed to continue because no one, no agency, no law is stopping them. The only way to bring back health, safety and beauty to our waters is if we, the people, are given a fundamental right to clean and healthy water. That is what the Right to Clean Water’s petition initiative is all about. Visit https://lnkd.in/e4b3a63a right now. Print, sign and send in the petition for you, your family and your friends.

Cigarette butts are the number one littered item, according to Mind Your Plastic's #CircularEconomyAmbassadorProgram data from the last two years (as well as many other data publications!). This is not only a fun way to tackle cigarette butt waste, but an incredible example of municipalities in action. ...and for the record, while I'm not a smoker, ?? ?? ?? would totally get my vote! What about you? #Halifax #PollutionPrevention #MunicipalitiesInAction
Divert NS has partnered with Halifax Regional Municipality Solid Waste Resources on cigarette litter intervention by placing interactive receptacles in strategic locations across HRM with topical questions that encourage cigarette smokers to vote with their butts. Early data from the intervention shows that locations with the butt voting bins have fewer cigarette butts littered on the ground. Did you know that even the most carefully managed environments can become infected by ToBRFV? ???? Title: It’s Legal For That Corporation to Dispose of its Chemical Waste Here Puddle's edge. My sanctuary. Skin once fresh, now burns. Strange tang in the air. Water tastes wrong. Where are the insects? Eggs won't hatch. Silence spreads. My throat dry, trill muted. Earth reeks: unnatural decay. Limbs weak, eyes cloudy. Home no longer safe. Must hop away, but where? Poison seeps everywhere. #EnvironmentalAwareness #WildlifeConservation #IndustrialPollution #BiodiversityLoss #ToadThoughts
