It's a process that seeks to find solutions that work for everyone, rather than relying on consensus or majority support and regulations. In this approach, a proposal is presented and participants are encouraged to share their thoughts and concerns. If anyone has a reasonable objection, the proposal is revised to address their concerns. This process continues until all objections are resolved, and a decision is made that works for everyone. Consent-based decision making is particularly useful for highly influential proposals, such as a mission statement for a department or division. By dedicating time to this type of project in advance, everyone will be more committed to ensuring its effective implementation.
