Cornish College of the Arts and Seattle University are excited to announce the signing of a Letter of Intent to join institutions, with Cornish eventually becoming the Cornish College of the Arts at Seattle University and continuing to educate students at its South Lake Union campus. "At the recent University of Tennessee Board of Trustees meeting, the board voted unanimously to approve President Boyd’s recommendation to remove the “interim” title from Dr. Linda C. Martin, now officially Chancellor of the University of Tennessee Southern. This decision was retroactively applied, recognizing Dr. Martin’s impressive contributions over the past three years. Under Chancellor Martin’s leadership, UT Southern has reached unprecedented heights, with successes that include: - A record first-year retention rate of 77.2% - A record overall retention rate of 79.5% - A 12% increase in total enrollment - An 8.5% increase in transfer students - Record fundraising of $6.1 million in FY24 - A $1 million increase in endowment These accomplishments, along with the creation of UT Southern’s first strategic plan and campus master plan, reflect Chancellor Martin’s dedicated leadership. The UT Southern Advisory Board, represented by Chair Jimmy Granbery, presented its unanimous support for the decision to remove the “interim” from her title to the UT Board of Trustees." In November, our California Community Colleges Chancellor Sonya Christian, Board of Governors and executive leadership attended the annual Community College League of California convention. Chancellor Christian delivered an inspiring State of the System update to the audience. The state of the system is strong! Overall, the number of students attending a California community college is increasing. ? There was an almost 10% increase in the number of students between 2022 and 2023, spefically among veterans, Black, Latino and Native American students. ? Dual enrollment is up 24% ? There was an increase in the number of students receiving a Pell and/or California College Promise Grant Our Vision 2030 blueprint is guided by the following goals: ? ?? Goal 1: Equity in Success - Ensure the academic and career success of all Californians who are current and prospective California community college students ?? Goal 2: Equity in Access - Broaden the opportunities for all Californians to participate in higher education by starting or continuing their higher education at a California community college ?? 2024) – New national rankings from the Wall Street Journal of America’s top 500 universities recognize North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University as the nation’s No. 1 public historically Black university. The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse rankings evaluate “how well each college sets graduates up for financial success … how much a school improves students’ chances of graduating and their future earnings,” WSJ says. “We don’t measure reputation, nor the college’s own finances.” The rankings include 14 HBCU campuses, eight of them public. Trailing N.C. A&T among public campuses are, in order: Florida A&M University, North Carolina Central University, Prairie View University, Tennessee State University, Savannah State University, Jackson State University and Alcorn State University.
