This partnership has led to a series of remarkable outcomes, transforming Nottingham Recycling's operations. Including: ??A 30% increase in the density of compacted blocks, which translates into more substantial rebates for the company. ??The SC3200 also processes polystyrene 30% faster, generating significant cost savings through reduced labor and energy use. ??Machine downtime was also signficantly reduced. This milestone underscores the significant demand from supply chain participants, OEMs, and potential strategic partners, all keen to explore our plant’s capabilities and the high-quality production output. Our team has been hosting visitors at our Northern Ireland facility, providing them with an opportunity to witness the efficiency and effectiveness of our recycling processes firsthand. The strong interest from the rare earth oxide (REO) supply chain participants has affirmed the need for increased capacity to capture the compelling monetisation opportunity that lies before us. As we look to the future, Ionic Technologies is actively evaluating options to scale up operations at our Belfast plant. This comes in light of multiple, advanced discussions regarding potential commercial partnerships that aim to leverage Ionic's cutting-edge technology for REO production through recycling. We are delighted to announce that LiBatt Recycling, a Recyclus Group company, has secured ￡50K funding through the Clean Futures Accelerator Program, spearheaded by Connected Places Catapult. In alignment with this initiative, we will be matching the grant with an additional ￡50K. This significant funding will enable us to develop and validate a groundbreaking recycling process for lithium thionyl chloride (LTC) batteries. These batteries are commonly used in devices that demand long life spans, such as fire alarms, smart meters, and a wide range of industrial applications. Currently, there are no established recycling methods for LTC batteries in Europe. While some are exported, many remain stored in yards across the UK, posing environmental risks due to the toxic chemicals they contain. By the project's completion, LiBatt Recycling aims to establish a safe and effective process to recycle LTC batteries, ensuring that the recovered lithium is reintroduced into the supply chain. Our Scientific Director, Anwar Sattar, commented "This is a tremendous opportunity for both LiBatt Recycling and the UK. LTC batteries contain up to 5% lithium by mass, and recycling this material strengthens our national resource security. Recycling just one tonne of LTC batteries can produce enough lithium to power seven large electric vehicles."
