Now, for the very first time, How2Recycle will feature The Partnership’s Recycle Check QR code to bring local community recycling acceptance data to packages across the U.S. This means individuals now have access to a simple, real-time tool that empowers them to recycle confidently and effectively within their own communities. By scanning the Recycle Check QR code on a packages label, individuals can get a clear, immediate yes/no answer on whether the packaging in their hands is accepted by their local recycling program—powered by data from The Recycling Partnership’s National Recycling Database, which covers the more than 9,000 recycling programs nationwide. Leveraging technology and consumer adoption of apps has the potential to improve recycling on multiple levels. Informing the consumer whether the product is recyclable in their community, as well as how and where… while also offering the back-end insights on users and materials, that can translate into opportunities for future program improvements and investments. Even more powerful, would be the ability to personally notify the consumer of updates in the future, if their program or local recycling infrastructure changes to enable better reuse of the material(s) that they have previously queried... This way a single education point in time can be revisited and updated in the future if conditions change! ?? ??
