Qatar has a dedicated First lounge in Doha and a few aircraft with a First cabin, so it makes sense that they will address the issue sooner rather than later. The measure of international First has been a private flat bed "suite," with some sort of concierge and extensive catering, but the suite is now firmly in Business territory. I'd love to see the customer data and be a fly on the wall during discussions around this product and how they decide to differentiate it from their Q Suite business class - is it about radically more space? More personalization? Even more privacy, or something more social? Augmented services on the ground? Or something else? This week, one of our most popular news articles is about Nigeria’s Air Peace, which would like to cooperate with Norse Atlantic Airways to launch flights from Lagos to London Gatwick as they struggle to secure their slots. We thought it would be interesting to compare them to each other in this graph. Norse Atlantic Airways holds 44 weekly slots at London Gatwick for the Summer 2024 season, utilising 32 so far. Air Peace was authorised to operate in the UK in November 2023 but has yet to secure market access. It operates one Boeing B777-200ER and two Boeing B777-300s, as well as a fleet of narrowbody and regional aircraft unable to reach the UK non-stop, including seven Boeing B737-300s, six Boeing B737-500s, one Do328-300, eight Embraer E145s, and five Embraer E195-E2s. It has a firm order for five Embraer E175s, ten Boeing B737-8s, and eight more Embraer E195-E2s. Norse Atlantic Airways didn't respond to ch-aviation's query about leasing or trading its slots to Air Peace. Farnborough International 2024 A Boom For Wide-Body Orders ????? ??The 2024 Farnborough International Airshow has seen a surge in orders for wide-body aircraft, reflecting the global rebound of international air travel. Both Airbus and Boeing have secured significant orders, totaling 261 aircraft valued at $63 billion. ??Wide-body jets like the Boeing 777X, 787, and Airbus A330, A350 dominated the orders, accounting for over half of the total deals. This shift towards larger aircraft indicates a strong demand for long-haul flights. ??While the overall order number was lower than the record-breaking 2018 show, it marked a significant increase compared to 2022. Notable deals include Korean Air's order for 20 Boeing 777-9s and 20 787-10s, and Qatar Airways' purchase of 20 additional 777-9s. Airbus also secured substantial orders, including 21 A350-900s from Japan Airlines and 20 A330-900s from VietJet Air.

“This week marks more than 240 days since our stale and outdated contract expired,” said F/O Charlene Hudy, [Air Canada Pilots] Air Canada ALPA Master Executive Council (MEC) chair, during the event. “Air Canada has the opportunity to recognize our value by making important improvements to our contract, which must include closing the significant wage gap between the United States and Canada. If they fail to do so, we all will lose, and Air Canada will no longer attract and retain the pilots they require.” In January, ALPA and Air Canada entered into a mediation protocol agreement with a professional mediator to facilitate negotiations. This is the final week of negotiations scheduled under the protocol agreement. Since entering the mediation protocol agreement, the two parties have been successful in reaching some agreements, however, numerous items remain outstanding. With only days left in mediation, Air Canada pilots are sending a unified message to management that it’s time to deliver a world-class contract they have earned. “We’ve heard Air Canada’s ambitious growth plans during their recent quarterly financial updates.
