Today is the 3rd Annual #GivetoWomenAndGirls Day! ?? This national campaign, led by The Women's Philanthropy Institute (WPI) at Indiana University Indianapolis, seeks to raise awareness of the funding gap that exists for nonprofits devoted to women and girls, and encourage an increase in support. Issues affecting women and girls have received more attention in recent years, but the share of total philanthropic support directed to organizations supporting them has remained stagnant and strikingly low. ?? For Black women, the pressure to always be on guard against challenges—whether anticipated or unexpected—is more than exhausting. It’s a constant stress that takes a toll on our bodies, our pregnancies, and our overall health. Research shows that chronic stress and structural inequities lead to higher rates of preterm birth, low birth weight, and maternal mortality among Black mothers. At JUST Community, we believe every Black mother deserves care that acknowledges and understands this reality. As a fundraising professional with my own Give to the Max Day Goals it might seem a little odd for me to recommend an additional organization to send your GTMD dollars to, but I believe in the abundance of our community! The truth is, having multiple organizations thriving as they work for the good of our community means that each of us has the capacity to build upon our strengths and leverage our impact! I fundraise for a children's mental health organization, and I know, especially right now while anxiety is high among the LGBTQIA2S+ community, having organizations like Queer Space investing in the lives of youth will go a long, long way to support their mental wellbeing. Community, mentorship, education, and advocacy go a long way in creating psychological safety! So, this Give to the Max Day- of course I want to you to pitch in to help my organization be successful, but I also want you to consider investing in organizations like Queer Space! We need one another. Especially now!

This article about small-dollar giving viewed through the lens of democracy makes some great points, especially when you’re planning #ComprehensiveCampaigns. Campaigns tend to celebrate the 7-, 8-, and 9-figure gifts, and they should. They push an organization to and through its goal and they build the foundation for stronger giving efforts with other #donors. But it’s important to cultivate and celebrate donors who make smaller gifts during a campaign for so many reasons: ?? A strong donor pyramid needs a strong base. ?? The next campaign depends on the donors who didn’t make their lifetime gifts this time around. ?? Given that so few of us can make the kinds of gifts that make the news, we all need to be reminded that our actions–and voices–matter, not just the people who have a bigger platform. — ?? It's #Mondata! Over the past five years, data reveals that approximately 60% of donors support just one nonprofit in a given year, with an additional 15% supporting two. ?? Between 2020 to 2022, donation behaviour shifted, largely influenced by the pandemic and the heightened focus on social and racial justice following the Black Lives Matter movement. During this time, the average number of causes supported by each donor rose to between 2.5 and 2.7. However, by 2023, this number settled back to an average of 2.2 nonprofits per donor, a level similar to that seen in 2019. There seems to be a strong inclination among donors to be singularly focused when it comes to issues. Is this a good thing, a bad thing or just a thing? When you consider these donors would have had access to millions of nonprofits to choose from, and that we’re living in a world of poly-crises, I can’t help but think that this is a lost opportunity… #ImpactData #CorporateSocialResponsibility #CorporatePhilanthropy #Nonprofit #NGOs #CorporateGiving

The Malone Center has just received a wholesome donation to continue providing support to Black women during childbirth. Well, despite the 21st-century advancements, racial disparities in maternal health are still as stark as ever. This donation, albeit a small step, is a catalyst for big, imperative changes that we need to see. Just imagine — a world where every mother gets the support, care and dignity they deserve during one of life’s most profound moments.
