Excellent report on 2023 Bali's performance and the opportunity around branded residences. In summary, there are fewer branded residences in #bali than in other SEA destinations. Why? 1. Large Indonesian property groups prefer larger-scale projects in Jakarta and other urbanizing locations. 2. A restrictive environment on foreign property ownership, with a lack of transparency or consistency. 3. The costs of PMA companies to hold these assets increased over the last few years. However, as the report suggests: “there is a changing mindset of Indonesian developers to develop branded residences in Bali, and this is expected to grow to a wider scale among those seeking second or holiday homes. Total income for SA’s tourism accommodation industry increased by 5.7% during June 2024 when compared to June 2023, according to Statistics South Africa. Income from accommodation increased by 8.9% y/y, a result of a 0.2% increase in the number of stay unit nights sold and an 8.7% increase in the average income per stay unit night sold.
