This week, students at the Whitney M. Young Jr. Job Corps Center celebrated National Apprenticeship Week with events in partnership with the Central Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters (#CMRCC) in Louisville! Tuesday, November 19: Students welcomed Aaron Gohl, business representative, and Joe Pittman, renewable energy lead, from the CMRCC for an engaging presentation about apprenticeships in the carpenters’ union. They explored how skilled tradespeople can become union members and learned about career pathways, wage progression, and the benefits of becoming union carpenters. Wednesday, November 20: Students from Carpentry, Construction Building Technology, Welding, and Bricklaying toured the CMRCC union hall and training center. They experienced hands-on learning opportunities and gained deeper insight into how apprenticeships serve as a fast track to successful careers. We are proud to connect our students with opportunities that shape their futures! #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #JobCorps #CMRCC #SkilledTrades #careersuccess #jobcorps
