The average person goes through 3 therapists before finding ‘the one’. 64% believe it’s essential to find a therapist who can cater to their individual needs.*1 Shouldn′t it be the same for finding the right SL (Second Langauge) teacher? A SL teacher must work on: ? Patience ? Active listening ? Empathy ? Emotional intelligence ? Non-judgemental attitude ? Trust-building The therapeutic relationship is considered one of the most significant predictors of therapy success. I believe it goes the same way for your ESL teacher. It takes time to find the right one. Maybe I′m the right one for you. Wanna find out? I share a link in the comments where... you can get a FREE 20 minute-session with me. Let′s meet! When working in mainstream education I consistently saw young people being told over and over again what they were getting wrong. This would wear anyone down and we wonder why so many young people, especially those who are neurodivergent, find it challenging to attend school regularly when this is often their experience. When we consciously catch young people when they are getting it right, and tell them, we can change their trajectory, we can support their positive self-image and we can influence our own approach to them too. What are some ways you've seen schools, teachers, or mentors successfully shift from focusing on mistakes to celebrating progress? How do you think this approach could change the way young people, especially those who are neurodivergent, experience education? -----------------------‐-------------------------------- Hello! ??I'm Becky a workshop leader, facilitator and educator. Register now for the next Webinar hosted by the NAEEA Mental Health special interest group. Whether you are navigating student retention and success, enhancing mental health and wellbeing, promoting widening participation, refining pedagogical approaches, or shaping curriculum development, the concept of 'student support' invariably becomes integral to personal or institutional missions in education. This webinar seeks to critically examine the term 'student support,' which has become ubiquitous and often lacks a clear definition.

Teaching young children about feelings is a foundational part of early education that supports their emotional and social development. It begins with naming feelings, helping children identify and articulate their emotions. When children learn to name their feelings—like happy, sad, angry, or scared—they become better equipped to understand and manage their emotional experiences. By naming feelings, educators give children the language they need to express themselves. Additionally naming feelings fosters empathy: when children understand their own emotions, they can more easily recognize and relate to the feelings of others, creating a more compassionate and cooperative learning environment. Teaching about emotions at a young age promotes self-awareness and emotional regulation, essential skills for building resilience and healthy relationships. By discussing feelings openly and modeling emotional vocabulary, teachers and caregivers set the stage for children to develop strong communication skills and a sense of emotional security. Ultimately, giving children the language for their emotions empowers them, laying the groundwork for positive mental health and social success throughout their lives. The findings reveal that children who were frequent readers experienced a positive impact on their mental health post-pandemic compared to those who read infrequently, driving home the importance of this activity in mental and emotional development.? A-Level #results #day (following the trend of reflecting on my neurodivergent experience). At College just before my exams, I was (finally, long overdue) given my "#dyslexia" label. Two of my exam boards accepted this and gave me additional support in my exams (word process my essays and extra time) - I got two As for those subjects. My English Literature exam board rejected the recommended support, and my final hand-written exam was a U (ungraded). The comment from the examiner was that it was "impossible to read". ??♀? Go figure... Overall, two As and C, which meant I lost my provisional place at university (AAA was needed) and I had to rapidly remake my #plans. A number of years later, I'm now doing a #PhD - Something that never felt available to me at 17 when I first dipped my toes into living life as authentically #neurodivergent and received rejection from adults in my life, exam boards in my life, the society I lived my life in. I'm not going to pretend that there are any 17/18 year olds on my LinkedIn - But for any parents of 17/18 year olds who didn't get the results they were hoping for today (neurodivergence aside), they're going to be okay! There are now so many options - The world is their oyster ?? #Congratulations to everyone celebrating or remaking plans on the back of their results today! And a shout-out to the amazing #teacher who recognised my brain was working a little differently. She changed my life! #ALevels #Education #ResultsDay Support for families with neurodivergent children: https://lnkd.in/gevSHRpF.
