A person suffering from malnutrition is likely to visit their GP twice as much as those who are well-nourished. They are also expected to experience longer hospital stays, because they won't be able to keep their strenght, which in turn means their bodies are less able to fight off pesky illnesses. Malnutrition can be caused by many things, from poor eating habits, lack of appetite caused by disease, physical disabilities, cognitive impairment, depression, isolation and even fear of falling ?? that list is longer than we might have originally thought, right?! What if I suspect my loved one isn't eating enough? ?? sometimes, eating little and often can be better than full meals ?? eat together ?? eat at set times if a routine helps your loved one ?? make food as soft as possible for loved ones with chewing or dental problems Got any questions or tips of your own?
